Colts' Jonathan Taylor Jokes About Getting Drug Tested After TD vs. Browns
Indianapolis Colts star Jonathan Taylor had a surprise waiting for him after the team's 39-38 loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
Taylor said he was randomly selected to be drug tested by NFL officials:
As the 2021 All-Pro quipped, this came after his strongest performance of the season so far. He ran for 75 yards on eight carries and scored his first touchdown of 2023 in the third quarter against Cleveland.
For the year, Taylor now has 219 yards from scrimmage in three appearances.
The joint drug testing policy stipulates that 10 players from every team are selected at random by a computer program for screening each week. That can make for some odd coincidences.
Philadelphia Eagles star A.J. Brown was randomly tested last year after catching three touchdown passes in a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. It happened again after his two-TD performance against the Washington Commanders.
Sometimes the connection is even more humorous.
You could create an entire category for the special teams players who get the luck of the draw after a big performance or making a highlight-reel tackle.
It's unclear whether Browns kicker Dustin Hopkins was compelled to provide a sample after going 4-of-4 on field goals, including three of 50-plus yards, against the Colts.
