NFL Futures Betting Odds 2023-24: Best Picks for Super Bowl 58 Entering Week 5
We're on to Week 5 of the 2023-24 NFL season and, once again, there has been some reshuffling in the Super Bowl futures odds since last week.
This week, a new team moves into the top spot and another team re-enters the top three after briefly dropping down.
Overall, the Super Bowl odds haven't fluctuated wildly since the beginning of the season. Some teams, like the 3-1 Miami Dolphins, who entered the season with +2500 odds, have made a notable jump. (Ahead of Week 5, the Dolphins' Super Bowl odds are +1000, tied for the third best.)
And the 1-3 Cincinnati Bengals, who opened the season at +1100, have had a sluggish start, dropping them down to their current odds of +3000.
For the most part, however, the top three has seen a consistent rotation between the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs (3-1), the powerhouse San Francisco 49ers (4-0), the balanced Philadelphia Eagles (4-0) and the defensively dominant Dallas Cowboys (3-1).
Six teams are tied for Vegas' top three Super Bowl favorites right now. We'll take a closer look at three of them.
Kansas City Chiefs
1 of 3
Super Bowl odds: +550
Even if they haven't quite looked as dynamic as they did last year ahead of winning the Lombardi Trophy, the Kansas City Chiefs have steadily gotten the job done so far this season, standing at 3-1 on the year heading into Week 5.
The Chiefs have been a moneyline favorite in all their games so far this season, and their offense and defense both rank in the top 10. After missing the first game of the season, tight end Travis Kelce has picked up two scores and 155 yards in three games. On the ground, Isiah Pacheco leads the team with 270 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns, as well as 90 receiving yards.
Patrick Mahomes finally looked human against the New York Jets in Week 4, putting together inarguably the worst quarter of his career. But he was able to turn things around after halftime, and that's what Vegas wants to see when it comes to playing into February.
San Francisco 49ers
2 of 3
Super Bowl odds: +550
Not only is Christian McCaffrey indisputably the league's best running back, but four weeks into the season, he's got the best odds to win Offensive Player of the Year (+250).
Even when McCaffrey isn't scoring four touchdowns a game, as long as he's lining up in the backfield for the 49ers, he's making the San Francisco offense a nightmare for opponents.
Quarterback Brock Purdy and star wideouts Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel make the 49ers aerial game just as foreboding as its ground counterpart. With Samuel having a quiet Week 4 game against the Arizona Cardinals as he continues to deal with a knee injury he suffered in Week 3, Aiyuk, who has landed on the 49ers injury report himself, went off with 148 yards on six receptions.
The 49ers are one of the most high-powered teams in the league right now, and it's not surprising that they're tied with the Chiefs for the best odds to win it all in February.
Philadelphia Eagles
3 of 3
Super Bowl odds: +750
Based on the box score alone, you might think that Vegas would be down on the Eagles after Week 4. After all, the undefeated Birds needed overtime to squeak by the Washington Commanders, who are sitting at .500 on the season and, let's just say, not among Vegas' Super Bowl favorites.
But what the Eagles, and especially quarterback Jalen Hurts, showed in Week 4 is everything you want to see if you're tapping a team to go all the way to the Super Bowl. When he needed to be clutch, Hurts was clutch. His 28-yard touchdown pass to A.J. Brown with 1:28 left in regulation helped the Eagles to a 31-24 lead, but the Commanders were able to tie things up in the final seconds.
When the Commanders went 3-and-out to kick off overtime, Hurts made sure they never retook the field, orchestrating a 10-play drive (including a quarterback sneak on fourth-and-1) to put Jake Elliott in field-goal range for the game-winner.
