Chris Jericho: Perfect WWE Return Sets Stage for Epic Heel Run

The constant teases that we got on WWE television for the last seven weeks proved to be for Chris Jericho. He made his triumphant return on Raw Monday night, and while there seems to be a great divide among fans about how he came back, it was actually a brilliant move by him and WWE. 

For those who missed it, Jericho came out sporting one of the greatest jackets in wrestling history. He then got in the ring for 10 minutes milking the crowd, but he left before saying a word. 

That was exactly what it needed to be, but because wrestling fans are an impatient group of people, they have to have everything laid out for them now. 

Another reason for the mixed reaction to his return, I think, is because we are so used to WWE always botching the follow-up to an angle that it is hard to have faith that anything will be done correctly.

The difference with this angle, though, is that Jericho will likely have creative input, and he understands what works and what doesn't as well as anyone in wrestling today. 

It was always going to be hard for Jericho to return as a heel right away. He has been gone for so long that the fans were going to give him a positive reaction regardless of what he did. 

By giving the crowd a taste of what he is going to be, he told them that he is not going to give them what they want. He is going to be the cocky, rock star heel that he plays so well. 

And considering the lack of top heels in WWE right now, Jericho is a welcome addition. We know that he is going to have great matches and cut great promos, so I don't know where the problem lies. 

At last check, Jericho is still scheduled to work a program with CM Punk at WrestleMania. While it would have been nice to see those two in the ring together right away, we have to remember that we are still three months away from that event. 

Let Jericho build up his heel persona, then he will go after Punk and all will be right with the world. This is going to be another great heel run by one of the great heel characters in WWE history. And the way that it was set up was nothing short of perfect.
