The Best Choice to Win Men's and Women's WWE Money in the Bank 2023 Ladder Matches

For the men and women of WWE, the Money in the Bank ladder match represents the opportunity of a championship opportunity they otherwise may have spent their entire careers chasing.

On July 1 at the O2 Arena in London, WWE Superstars will have the chance to capture a guaranteed shot at a title of their choosing and join the ranks of CM Punk, The Miz, Edge, Alexa Bliss, Carmella and Liv Morgan in successfully cashing in and making their mark as key figures in the beloved match's long history.

There are several competitors who have more than earned the opportunity the match provides, but only one can win each of the two namesake matches that will unfold as part of the pay-per-view.

Men's Money in the Bank Choice

There are some who will point to the annual ladder match as the opportunity to push an underutilized star such as Ricochet or LA Knight, rewarding them with a title shot that serves as the emphasis for a push they should have enjoyed a long time ago.

That argument is valid and is truer to the original intention of the bout, but there is only one real choice to emerge victorious in 2023: Cody Rhodes.

The American Nightmare saw his opportunity to dethrone Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship thwarted via interference from Solo Sikoa at WrestleMania 39. And the subsequent draft made it nearly impossible for him to find his way back to that stage, against that opponent.

The men's MITB match allows him the chance to earn a title opportunity to be cashed in whenever he sees fit, including WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia, where he could choose to challenge The Tribal Chief in the main event.

Rhodes winning in London would serve as the reason for the rematch without sacrificing the Royal Rumble to a repeat-winner scenario. It also gives the 37-year-old a much-needed big-match win in a year when his most prominent performances have come in losses.

Considering the close call he had in 2013, when he narrowly lost out to Damien Sandow, it would also be another one of those redemptive victories that help him finish his story.

Women's Money in the Bank Choice

Thus far, the only entrant announced officially for the women's MITB ladder match is Zelina Vega, who defeated Lacey Evans to cash her ticket to the July 1 premium live event.

This week will bring more qualifiers as Raw features Becky Lynch vs. Sonya Deville, and Zoey Stark vs. Natalya; while SmackDown pits Shotzi against Iyo Sky, and Bayley against Mia Yim.

The idea appears to be to feature the ongoing storylines featuring the demise of Damage CTRL and the budding rivalry between Lynch and Stark. If that is the case, it becomes much more difficult to predict who will leave London with the coveted briefcase.

Who should, though, is much easier to answer.

Vega has built momentum for herself as an underdog, a smaller but ferocious competitor whose performance in Puerto Rico against Rhea Ripley was one of the more emotional and unforgettable of the entire Backlash card.

Add to that showing the considerable popularity of the Latino World Order, and you have all the reason for the 32-year-old to outlast her opponents and emerge with the title opportunity.

Her win makes even more sense when you factor in the feud with Ripley and another opportunity to defeat The Eradicator of The Judgment Day.

Can she hang with the physically superior Ripley one-on-one? No, but introduce the element of surprise and the opportunity to cash in whenever, and you have a scenario that favors Vega and potentially provides a signature moment in her WWE career.
