NFL Playoff Predictions: Tim Tebow and More Quarterbacks Who Will Fail Miserably

Nicholas GossJun 7, 2018

Denver Broncos star Tim Tebow is one of several quarterbacks who will fail miserably in the NFL playoffs this week when the wild card round commences.

The playoffs are played at a different speed and with a higher level of intensity, and many inexperienced quarterbacks are often unable to handle that. The pressure and expectations of the playoffs also can bring a talented quarterback down.

Let's look at three quarterbacks doom to fail in the playoffs this weekend.

T.J. Yates, Houston Texans

T.J. Yates is a rookie quarterback whose inexperience will make him crumble under the bright lights of the playoffs.

The Houston Texans are a very talented team that came into the year with high expectations, but with a third-string quarterback leading them into the playoffs, they will not win their first postseason game in franchise history.

His opponent in the wild card round is the Cincinnati Bengals, who have the ninth-best passing defense in the NFL.

Yates injured his shoulder in Week 17 against the Tennessee Titans, and although he is probably going start, having an injured rookie quarterback start in the playoffs is just a recipe for disaster.

Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons

Matt Ryan is 0-2 in his playoff career, and although his Atlanta Falcons teammates didn't play too well in those games, much of the blame has to be put on Ryan's shoulders.

As the quarterback, you have to raise your game when the stakes are highest. He has thrown four interceptions in his playoff career, two in each loss (2010 to Packers and Cardinals in 2008).

Against a relentless New York Giants rushing attack in the wild card round, Ryan will struggle to have enough time in the pocket to throw accurate passes.

The Giants had six sacks last week against the Dallas Cowboys and looked unstoppable at times. As a team the Giants had 48 sacks in the regular season, which ranked third in the league. They also picked off 21 passes, which was good enough for sixth best in the NFL.

Ryan has a bad matchup against the Giants, and his previous playoff failures don't help either.

Tim Tebow, Denver Broncos

Tebow mania has quieted down since the Denver Broncos lost to the New England Patriots in Week 15, which was the beginning of their current three-game losing streak.

Tebow has thrown four interceptions with just one touchdown in the last three games, and has not been effective in the passing or running game.

Against the Pittsburgh Steelers defense in the wild card round, Tebow will be facing the No. 1-ranked pass defense and the No. 8 rushing defense.

With a bad matchup, no prior playoff experience and three bad performances leading up to the playoffs, Tebow is doomed to fail in the NFL playoffs.
