WWE News: Latest on Christian's Injury and WWE Return

WWE SmackDown superstar Christian has been out of action since before Survivor Series, nursing a foot injury that he suffered on an overseas tour in November. 

Since then, he’s only had a couple of appearances on WWE TV, last showing up for the Slammy Awards edition of Monday Night Raw several weeks back. 

Fans of Captain Charisma have been wondering when he’s coming back, and we have the latest on his upcoming return to the squared circle.

Christian is now being advertised for WWE’s post-WrestleMania tour of the UK in April. Christian is scheduled to make his return no later than February. 

"

This is good news for the WWE in general, but more specifically, for Friday Night SmackDown. 

The blue brand has seen a number of stars go down in recent months with various injuries, including Sin Cara, Mark Henry and now Randy Orton, and it definitely needs to get some of these guys back as quickly as possible. 

Christian is one of the most versatile performers in all of the WWE, and I could easily see him returning as a heel or baby face sometime within the next month or so, depending on the extent of Orton’s injury and where Christian is needed at the time. 

Regardless of the circumstances surrounding Christian’s upcoming return, SmackDown could definitely use him. The brand is pretty thin on main event-caliber wrestlers at the time being, and Christian was a staple of the World title scene for a big chunk of 2011. 

He could come back and provide an instant lift to the blue brand upon his return. The only question is when that return will happen. 

Given that it’s Royal Rumble time, I wouldn’t even be remotely surprised to see Christian return as a surprise entrant in the 30-Man Rumble match and eliminate a fellow SmackDown star to kick up a new feud for the new year. 

For all those Christian fans out there waiting for a Royal Rumble victory for Captain Charisma, though, I wouldn’t hold my breath.
