Kiper: Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr. Could Be Top-3 Pick in 2024 NFL Draft
The 2023 NFL draft concluded Saturday, which means it's time to start looking ahead to the 2024 draft class and the best players available.
One player who already stands out is Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. said Saturday that he could wind up being a top-three pick in the 2024 draft.
Harrison has spent the first two seasons of his collegiate career at Ohio State, but he put together a breakout year in 2022.
With Jaxon Smith-Njigba limited to only three games last season because of a hamstring injury, Harrison caught 77 passes for 1,263 yards and 14 touchdowns in 13 games as Stroud's main target. It was a significant improvement from the 11 catches for 139 yards and three scores he posted as a freshman in 2021.
While he wasn't eligible for the draft this year, Harrison still participated in Ohio State's pro day in March. NFL coaches and personnel who attended the event couldn't stop raving about his skill set.
Harrison's father, Pro Football Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison, starred for the Indianapolis Colts from 1996-2008. He was an eight-time Pro Bowler and a three-time All-Pro, and he helped the team win Super Bowl XLI during the 2006 season.
In 190 games across his 13-year career, Harrison caught 1,102 passes for 14,580 yards and 128 touchdowns.
The younger Harrison knows it won't be easy to follow in his father's footsteps.
"He's taught me pretty much everything I know—more so the mentality of the game and how to approach the game," Harrison Jr. told reporters in April. "I try to work as hard as he did. He obviously set the bar very high, and I have big shoes to fill, but I'm trying to get there."
Harrison is expected to be Ohio State's lead receiver again in 2023, and all eyes will be on the standout as he aims to be a top pick in the 2024 draft.
