Breaking Down Top Players in 2023 McDonald's All American Game
The McDonald's All American Games highlight some of the best high school basketball players in the country. Last year's boys' exhibition featured potential 2023 first-round NBA draft picks like Dereck Lively II and Keyonte George.
In the game before that—in 2019, before a two-year hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic—future NBA standouts like Anthony Edwards, James Wiseman and Cole Anthony were on the court.
Not every top player in the All American Game will go on to professional stardom, but many of them are sure to have prolific college careers.
This year's McDonald's All American Boys Game is scheduled for Tuesday, March 28, and will take place at Toyota Center in Houston. A look at the full rosters for this year's boys and girls teams can be found here.
Let's take a closer look at some of the top players headed to the 2023 McDonald's All American Boys Game.
PG Isaiah Collier

Wheeler (Marietta, Georgia) guard Isaiah Collier holds the top spot in 247Sports' composite rankings for 2023. He was also recently named a 2023 Morgan Wootten National Player of the Year.
The 6'3", 190-pound guard and USC commit should be one of the leaders of the West team and will give Trojans fans a glimpse of what's to come.
According to CBS Sports' Kyle Boone, Collier agreed to join USC, in part, because his friend and Wheeler teammate Arrinten Page had already agreed to join the program:
"USC pulled off the coup of securing Collier in large part because it sold him successfully on playing next to his best friend, Arrinten Page, who doubles as a teammate with him at Wheeler. ...Page, a 6'9" center, committed to the Trojans in early October, at which point it seemed like fate that the two would team up together in Southern California."
Page and Collier project as an exciting tandem for the Trojans, and while only one-half will be represented in Houston next week, fans should enjoy a preview.
SF Justin Edwards
2 of 3
Imhotep Institute (Philadelphia) forward Justin Edwards is the No. 2 prospect in 247Sports' composite rankings and will face Collier as a member of the East team.
The 6'7", 180-pound recruit may have a slight frame right now, but he's a versatile scorer who can provide value at both ends of the court.
"When Edwards is at his best, he's scoring at multiple levels, being active defensively, and showing his ability to rebound in high-volume," Adam Finklestein of 247Sports wrote. "He has a very advanced mid-range game with an ability to get to his spots, pull-up over top of contesting defenders, and even utilize a floater if he gets deep enough."
Edwards is a Kentucky commit and will play with two of his future teammates on the west team. Camden (New Jersey) guard D.J. Wagner and Camden (New Jersey) center Aaron Bradshaw are also Wildcats commits and are the third- and fourth-ranked recruits, respectively, on the 247Sports' composite rankings board.
PG Bronny James
3 of 3
Sierra Canyon (Los Angeles) guard Bronny James might not be one of the very best recruits in this year's McDonald's All American Game, but he's definitely one of the most noteworthy. The son of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, Bronny is widely expected to forge a path to the NBA.
The 6'3", 190-pound guard isn't the same blue-chip high school prospect that his father was, but he does have an impressive skill set.
"One of his strengths is his ability to make catch and shoot jump shots and he is a fantastic passer," Eric Bossi of 247Sports wrote. "James gives good effort on the defensive end where he plays with toughness and versatility."
While James has yet to pick a college program, he has received offers from Ohio State and USC. Luca Evans of the Los Angeles Times reported in January that, per sources, James is down to a final three of Ohio State, USC and Oregon.
LeBron has repeatedly said that he hopes to play with Bronny in the NBA—on the same court if not the same team. The younger James will draw plenty of interest next week from casual fans who haven't watched him play to this point.
