NFL Draft 2012: Power Ranking Top Non-AQ Conference Talent in the Draft
In spite of the plethora of talent coming out of college football's bigger conferences, as always, there is a significant amount of talent expected to burst onto the scene at the 2012 NFL draft.
Houston QB Case Keenum is one of the handful of top-notch non-AQ prospects heading into the draft, as his 5009 yards are the best in the nation by a margin of over 500 yards.
Talk about impressive.
With the 2012 NFL draft soon to be upon us, these are the top five non-AQ prospects that will be entering the draft.
No. 5: Ladarius Green, TE, Louisiana-Lafayette
1 of 5The Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns went 9-4 this season and 6-2 in conference play in the Sun Belt conference, as TE Ladarius Green proved to be a significant factor.
Green has posted 606 yards and eight touchdowns this season, which was tied for the most on the team.
The last four games with the team have been as impressive as any for Green, as he has posted 370 yards and three touchdowns.
The 230-pound, 6'6" senior is a big body that has shown he will be an impressive TE at the next level. Expect Green to be drafted in the first four to five rounds after putting together a solid senior season for his Ragin' Cajuns.
No. 4: Brian Quick, WR, Appalachian State
2 of 5Brian Quick quickly burst onto the scene in his senior season with Appalachian State, putting up the best numbers he has produced his entire college career.
His 1096 yards and 11 touchdowns are both record numbers for Quick, as he eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark and double-digit TD numbers in just 12 games this season.
At 6'6", 220 pounds, Quick is a fast, elusive receiver that can put up yards in a hurry. This season, Quick has posted seven 100-yard games and boasts three games with at least one catch for 50-plus yards.
Expect Quick to only continue to boost his marketability before the NFL draft, as this is a receiver that has the skill set to play solid football in the pros.
No. 3: Vinny Curry, DE, Marshall
3 of 5Marshall DE Vinny Curry has been major asset to this Marshall team this season, as he was able to record monster numbers with the team over the last two seasons.
In his final two seasons with the team, Curry posted 168 tackles and 23 sacks, including an impressive 86 solo tackles.
At 6'5", 242 pounds, Curry is a top-notch athlete that is sure to make an impact at the next level. NFLDraftScout.com has Curry No. 7 of the 235 draft-eligible tight ends available in the 2012 NFL draft.
No. 2: Janoris Jenkins, CB, North Alabama
4 of 5Talk about finishing up strong.
After putting up impressive numbers in his first three years with the University of Florida, Jenkins has shown continued success as a member of the North Alabama Lions.
In his senior year with the team, Jenkins would record 53 tackles and two interceptions on the year. Jenkins has recorded a total of 10 interceptions in his four years playing college football.
This season, his production earned him a spot on the the First-Team Daktronics All-American team and Second-Team AP All-American honors.
Jenkins is easily a top-10 CB in the NFL draft and should be drafted in the first couple of rounds in the 2012 NFL draft.
No. 1: Case Keenum, QB, Houston
5 of 5Case Keenum is not only the top non-AQ quarterback headed for the 2012 NFL draft, he is arguably the best QB behind Andrew Luck headed for the pros.
Keenum's 5009 yards were over 500 yards better than any other QB in college football. Keenum also threw for a nation-leading 45 touchdowns as well.
What makes these numbers all the more impressive? Keenum threw just five interceptions on 534 pass attempts.
With an impressive ability to both throw and maintain possession of the football when on the field, Keenum could easily be the biggest sleeper at the QB position headed into the NFL draft.
Keenum should produce numbers as solid as any QB headed for the NFL in this draft class. This is a situation where the numbers should be anything but overlooked.
