NFL Draft 2023: Complete Order and Predictions Ahead of Scouting Combine

Jake RillFeb 19, 2023

With a little more than two months to go before the 2023 NFL draft, teams around the league are trying to decide which players they'll target at the event, set from April 27 to 29 in Kansas City. The NFL Scouting Combine could help provide them with some clarity.

The combine, which will take place from at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis from Feb. 28 to March 6, will host 319 prospects from the 2023 draft class. The players will go through a variety of drills with NFL coaches, general managers and scouts in attendance.

A full list of the participants for this year's combine can be found at NFL.com.

As the NFL Scouting Combine draws closer, here's an updated first-round mock for this year's draft, followed by more on some of the top players to watch at the combine.

Top Quarterbacks Will Aim to Rise to Top of Board

Plenty of teams with top-10 picks in the 2023 NFL draft could be in the market for a franchise quarterback. The Texans, Colts, Raiders and Panthers all need to figure out their QB situations. Even the Seahawks and/or Lions could decide to draft a top quarterback as eventual replacements for Geno Smith and Jared Goff, respectively.

But how will the QBs come off the board? As many as four could be taken within those first 10 selections, as Alabama's Bryce Young, Ohio State's C.J. Stroud, Kentucky's Will Levis and Florida's Anthony Richardson will all likely be in consideration.

It's possible one of the teams in need of a quarterback could try to trade up to the No. 1 selection, which is owned by the Bears. Because Chicago already has its likely franchise QB (Justin Fields), it may be open to moving down in order to accumulate more picks.

If not, then the Texans will have their pick of the QBs at No. 2. And it seems highly likely they'll take one, as Davis Mills doesn't appear to be their long-term solution at the position.

Young won the Heisman Trophy as a sophomore at Alabama in the 2021 season, and he had an impressive career for the Crimson Tide. But Stroud, Levis and Richardson are intriguing draft prospects as well. It's not an easy choice for teams to make.

The combine could help separate these quarterbacks on draft boards. While Young could be the front-runner to be the first one taken at this point, that could change if one of the other three has an incredible showing in Indianapolis.

Of course, they could all perform well in the various drills they participate in. These are the four top QBs in the class for a reason, and this will be an opportunity for them to show why.

Robinson Likely to Have Strong Combine Showing

Last year, there were no running backs taken in the first round of the NFL draft. There also hasn't been an RB selected higher than No. 24 overall since Saquon Barkley was picked by the Giants with the No. 2 overall pick in 2018.

Bijan Robinson likely won't go that early in this year's draft, but he could go higher than No. 24. Especially if the former Texas running back impresses at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Over his three-year career with the Longhorns, Robinson solidified his standing as the top running back in the 2023 draft class. He capped his time at Texas with a great junior season, as he ran for 1,580 yards and scored 20 total touchdowns last year.

There's a good chance Robinson will further improve his draft stock at the combine. His NFL.com prospect grade is 6.8, which means he's projected to be a first-year starter. And he'll likely show why in the drills in Indianapolis.

Another reason why Robinson could be a top-10 pick in the draft is because the Eagles own the No. 10 overall selection. They could lose a pair of RBs in free agency this offseason, as both Miles Sanders and Boston Scott are set to hit the market.

Philadelphia already has a strong offense. By adding Robinson to its backfield, the team could become even more dominant on that side of the ball.

But if Robinson's stock continues to rise, other teams could become potential suitors as well. After all, a bunch of franchises would likely be interested in adding a running back as talented as the former Longhorn to an offense.
