Super Bowl 2023: Date, Point Spread and Prop Odds for Chiefs vs. Eagles

Zach BuckleyFeb 4, 2023

The number of possible Super Bowl LVII bets you can place is staggering.

Have a hunch on the opening toss? How about the color of the celebratory Gatorade poured on the winning coach—or whether any gets poured at all? Or whether the first or last touchdown scorers will have a high or low jersey number? Or if a field goal or extra point attempt will hit the goalpost?

You can put money on any of them, and that just scrapes the surface of the more exotic wagers available to you.

You can also go the more traditional route, though, by weighing things like the spread, over/under and MVP of the NFL championship. We'll put a spotlight on some of the tamer betting options on the table using the latest odds from DraftKings Sportsbook.

Schedule, Point Spread

If you picture Super Bowl LVII opening with an exotic score, you can put your money where your mind is. The 14 players listed here are far from your only options. If you think Britain Covey's first career touch from scrimmage will be the first of this contest, well you can get enormous odds on that (+17000).

Chances are, though, this will probably be a predictable player.

Kansas City has scored the first touchdown in both of its playoff games so far. Both were touchdown passes to Travis Kelce. He is probably the most important offensive player who isn't a quarterback in this contest since the Chiefs can't match the Eagles' quantity of playmakers. He could be in line for video-game numbers, and they could absolutely include the game's first touchdown.

Philadelphia also tallied the first touchdown in both of its playoff games. One was a pass to Dallas Goedert, and the other was a Miles Sanders run.

The Eagles might want to establish the running game first in this contest. It's not only a strength of this offense, it also keeps Patrick Mahomes on the sideline. That would give both Sanders and Jalen Hurts a good chance to be the first player to find the end zone.

Prop Bet: Super Bowl MVP

3 of 3

A.J. Brown: +1000

Miles Sanders: +2200

DeVonta Smith: +2500

Brandon Graham: +8000

Nick Bolton: +8000

Frank Clark: +8000

If this seems like a ton of names, that's because it is. It's also nowhere near the full list, which ends with a dozen players who have +25000 odds—including Mecole Hardman, who sounds like a long shot to play.

If you want to throw a dart at a sleeper with long odds, feel free. It might feel like this award is earmarked for the winning quarterback, but that's not at all a lock. The list of Super Bowl MVP winners includes Malcolm Smith, Dexter Jackson, Larry Brown and Desmond Howard. That's a linebacker, two cornerbacks and a kick returner, to save you a Google search.

If these quarterbacks don't have time to throw, a pass-rusher like Haason Reddick or Chris Jones could certainly become the storyline of the game. If takeaways become the main talking point, then a ball hawk like L'Jarius Sneed (+15000) or C.J. Gardner Johnson (+25000) might find a path to the podium.

If you want to play it safer, though, then settle on a signal-caller.

Quarterbacks have captured MVP honors in 11 of the last 16 Super Bowls. That list includes Mahomes (Super Bowl LIV) and less-talented passers than Hurts. It's more likely than not one of these players takes home the trophy. You just have the simple task of selecting the right one.
