Georgia Football Recruiting 2023: Top Remaining 2023 Recruits, Class Predictions

Kristopher KnoxFeb 1, 2023

The Georgia Bulldogs are riding high heading into the 2023 offseason. They are fresh off a second-straight victory in the College Football Playoff Championship Game and will look to continue their football dominance next season.

A little reloading will be in order, though, as top players such as defensive lineman Jalen Carter, pass-rusher Nolan Smith and safety Christopher Smith—all top-20 prospects in the Bleacher Report Scouting Department's end-of-season draft rankings—are headed to the NFL.

Naturally, Georgia's champion status will serve as a powerful recruiting tool, and fans can expect the Bulldogs to restock the roster with one of the nation's best freshman classes.

Here, you'll find a look at how Georgia's recruiting class is shaping up heading into Wednesday's National Letter of Intent signing day. We'll examine some of its top commits, dive into some of the best uncommitted recruits still available and make a few predictions about how the class will look in the spring.

Entering the regular signing period, Georgia has the nation's second-ranked recruiting class, according to 247Sports. This consists of 20 commits and five 5-star recruits.

The Bulldogs' crop of 5-stars includes defensive lineman Mykel Williams, edge-rusher Marvin Jones Jr., cornerbacks Jaheim Singletary and Daylen Everette, and athlete Malaki Starks.

A two-way player out of Jefferson, Georgia, Starks may wind up playing on another loaded Bulldogs defense.

"Could morph into a hit-and-run linebacker that doesn't have to leave the field or carve out a role as a larger safety that can crash a gap on first down, cover a slot receiver on second down and then blitz on third down," Andrew Ivins of 27Sports wrote. "Has the potential to eventually hear his name called early on in the NFL draft if everything comes together."

Georgia is also slated to land a whopping 17 4-star recruits, including running back Branson Robinson, tight end Oscar Delp and quarterback Gunner Stockton.

It's shaping up to be a talented and well-balanced recruiting class, and it would be a shock if the Bulldogs don't add more top-tier talent in the coming days.

While most of the nation's top recruits have already made their decisions, a few top talents still remain. Perhaps the most notable is Pittsburg (California) quarterback Jaden Rashada.

He was originally committed to Florida but decommitted in mid-January. According to Mark Long of the Associated Press, his decision came after a dispute over NIL money.

Could Georgia enter the mix for the highly ranked dual-threat quarterback? Maybe, but fans shouldn't count on it. Schools like Texas A&M, Mississippi and LSU appear to be hotter on Rashada's trail, and he recently took an unofficial visit with Arizona State.

If the Bulldogs are to land another 5-star, it may be Pinnacle tight end Duce Robinson. He took an official visit to Athens in September and is projected by 247Sports' Crystal Ball to land with Georgia.

However, he is no lock to join the Bulldogs and may not make his decision at the start of the signing period.

"I think he's completely torn and I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't sign," a source told 247Sports' Blair Angulo.

Chad Simmons of On3 reported on Tuesday that Robinson will indeed delay his decision.

Other top recruits who remain uncommitted include athlete Nyckoles Harbor and cornerback Rodrick Pleasant, though neither appears high on Georgia's radar. However, 4-star tight end Walker Lyons is projected to join the Bulldogs by On3.

Plenty can change between now and the end of the signing window on April 1, as evidenced by Rashada's surprise re-entrance into the recruiting pool. However, it appears unlikely that Georgia will flip any top players who are heavily considering other programs.

Young players already know what the Bulldogs have to offer, and that's a legitimate shot at a collegiate championship. If that hasn't swayed them by now, it's probably not going to.

Don't expect players like Rashada or Harbor to suddenly pick Georgia as a destination. However, Robinson could be obtainable, even if he's also strongly considering USC.

"Robinson hosted both USC coach Lincoln Riley and Georgia coach Kirby Smart for in-home meetings last Monday," Angulo wrote. "Although the final list consists of five suitors, it's been long considered to be a tight race between the Bulldogs and Trojans."

Lyons is a solid backup plan at tight end if Robinson decides Georgia isn't for him, and the Bulldogs should bolster their offense with at least one more playmaking tight end this cycle. Landing both, though, feels unlikely.

While Lyons decommitted from Stanford, the Cardinal are still in the mix to sign him. If the Bulldogs do land Robinson, expect Lyons to sign elsewhere.

Prediction: Robinson becomes the final 5-star to join Georgia's 2023 recruiting class.
