Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval Apologizes for Video Trolling Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes

Erin WalshJan 27, 2023

Cincinnati mayor Aftab Pureval has apologized following his viral video trolling Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes ahead of Sunday's AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead Stadium.

In the video, Pureval calls for Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow to undergo a paternity test to see if he is Mahomes's father. Additionally, he called Arrowhead Stadium "Burrowhead Stadium" and declared Sunday "They Gotta Play Us Day."

Sunday's matchup between the Bengals and Chiefs is a rematch of the 2022 AFC Championship Game, which Cincinnati won to clinch a berth in the Super Bowl, where they fell to the Los Angeles Rams.

The Bengals are 3-0 against the Chiefs in the Burrow era with one postseason victory and two regular-season wins. If history repeats itself, Cincinnati will be headed back to the Super Bowl for the second consecutive season.

However, if the Chiefs win, they'll be back in the big game for the first time since the 2020 season, and they'll certainly have all the bragging rights.
