Conor McGregor Hit by Car While Cycling Friday; Says He 'Could Have Been Dead'
Former UFC champion Conor McGregor said in a social media post Friday that he was struck by a car while cycling.
"Got a bang of a car just now from behind. A sun trap, the driver couldn't see me," he wrote on Instagram. "Full spreed straight thru me. Thank you God, it wasn't my time. Thank you wrestling and judo also. Having an awareness on the landing saved my life."
McGregor showed a video of the aftermath and said he "could have been dead." The driver provided him with a ride back home.
McGregor was in the news earlier this week after denying allegations he kicked, punched and threatened to drown a woman on his boat in Ibiza last summer. An investigation is ongoing in Spain after the woman provided a statement to Dublin police.
"Mr. McGregor is steadfast in his denial of all the accusations made by a guest on his boat," McGregor's spokesperson, Karen Kessler, told ESPN's Marc Raimondi in response to the allegations.
The 34-year-old McGregor has remained out of action for the UFC since suffering a broken leg in his loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021.
McGregor's coach John Kavanagh told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour on Monday he expects to see the lightweight back in the Octagon sometime this year.
