WWE Star Nikkita Lyons' Knee Injury Diagnosed as Torn ACL; Return Timeline Unknown

WWE NXT Superstar Nikkita Lyons announced Wednesday on Twitter that she suffered a torn ACL and meniscus in her knee:

Lyons did not provide a timeline for when she will be able to return to in-ring action.

The 23-year-old Lyons has been one of the breakout stars for NXT since it was rebranded as NXT 2.0 in September 2021. She was one of several Superstars with limited wrestling experience who were given immediate exposure on NXT TV once she debuted in late 2021.

While Lyons has yet to win a championship in NXT, she has racked up her fair share of impressive victories, including a disqualification win over then-NXT women's champion Mandy Rose in June 2022.

Lyons eventually formed a tag team with Zoey Stark, and after they failed in two attempts to win the NXT Women's Tag Team Championships from Kayden Carter and Katana Chance, Stark turned on Lyons.

That led to a match between them on the Dec. 14 episode of NXT, which saw Stark pick up the victory.

Lyons' most recent match was on NXT LVL Up last week when she defeated newcomer Jakara Jackson.

On this week's episode of NXT, an injury angle was run in the parking lot. The camera showed Lyons writhing in pain on the pavement and being tended to by other wrestlers, but it was not revealed who attacked her.

This is not the first time Lyons has dealt with a knee injury during her time in NXT, as she announced in May 2022 that she sprained and partially tore her MCL, leading to her removal from the NXT Women's Breakout tournament.

When healthy, Lyons has been a consistent presence on NXT programming and a hugely popular figure among fans, but her absence is likely to mean even more TV time for the likes of Roxanne Perez, Cora Jade, Tiffany Stratton, Wendy Choo, Lyra Valkyria, Toxic Attraction and Stark, among others.
