2012 NFL Draft Order: Teams That Need Justin Blackmon
Justin Blackmon is undoubtedly the best wide receiver in the 2012 NFL draft. He's probably going to be a top-five pick, maybe even as high as No. 2 to the St. Louis Rams.
He's going to be a game-changing wide receiver in the NFL and he has the talent to step in and contribute immediately.
He could be the 2012 version of A.J. Green, a guy who steps in with his new team and instantly makes the offense better.
So, let's take a look now at three teams in the top 10 of the 2012 NFL daft that could take a shot on Justin Blackmon.
St. Louis Rams
The Rams first priority this offseason should be to re-sign Brandon Lloyd. Then, they need to add another solid receiver to keep defenses from double-teaming him.
If Sam Bradford is going to start performing like a No. 1 overall pick in 2012, he needs some offensive weapons around him.
Blackmon would be a great complement to Lloyd. Lloyd could work the mid-range passes, while Blackmon keeps the safeties back with his big-play ability.
The Rams have other needs, but with the No. 2 overall pick, Blackmon would be a good choice.
Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings have their first round quarterback in Christian Ponder. They also have Adrian Peterson at running back.
But, their only other offensive weapon is Percy Harvin, and he's not really a deep threat. Granted, he has the speed and elusiveness to take any catch to the house, but most of his catches are over the middle and in the 0-15 yard range.
Bringing in Blackmon to be a deep threat would open things up even more for Harvin over the middle.
He's the one piece the Vikings' offense needs to be a top 10 NFL offense.
Cleveland Browns
The Browns only have Peyton Hillis on offense, and they probably won't even have him after this season.
They desperately need offensive weapons and Blackmon would be a good fit. Throwing Blackmon into the mix would help Colt McCoy get better, if McCoy is going to be Cleveland's quarterback of the future.
If all other things stay the same and the Browns lose Hillis, Blackmon isn't going to make much of an impact his rookie season.
But, he'd be a nice addition to a rebuilding offense. And, with more good drafting and free agent signings, he could be an important piece on a decent team.
