LeBron James: Nothing Understated About King, Not Even His Birthday Cake
It's good to be king.
LeBron James is enjoying a rebirth in image as the Miami Heat continue to roll through the start of the NBA season. Maybe it was the lockout that made fans starved for anything NBA—even the most hated player from last year.
The image of James the fourth-quarter flame-out has waned, leaving nothing but good to emerge for the Heat star. The smiles are genuine and come far more often.
This past weekend gave a glimpse into the life of a king, and it's a charmed one to say the least. James celebrated his birthday and found time to bring in the New Year by getting engaged.
In fact, the only way this weekend would have been better for James is if an NBA championship was granted after he blew out the candles on his ridiculous cake.
And if you are looking for silly pastries that mix decadence and overzealous baking, this would be it. Yardbarker has a rundown on a cake that looks better suited for an episode of My Super Sweet 16.
The report describes the vanilla rum cake as being able to feed 250 guests. It was "created with Swarovski Crystals and details were painted with edible 14k gold including the Lion sugar faces and topped with a custom made monogram LJ created by Miami Cake Monograms."
If you have the money and want a posh pastry, check out the Divine Delicacies website. As Yardbaker reports, the bakery turned around this order in less than a day.
The night wasn't all about birthdays and cakes as LeBron James manned up and popped the biggest question of his life. He is now happily engaged to his longtime girlfriend Savannah Brinson.
The obvious note is that Divine Delicacies better stock up on flour and Swarvoski Crystals, because the wedding cake is going to be even more extravagant.
