National Signing Day 2012: Predicting the Biggest Surprise Commitments of NSD

I'm sure I'll have more on this later, but I just thought I'd give you a sneak preview of a couple surprises I think are on the horizon. These surprises coming in the form of shocking commitments that could take place on NSD or around NSD.

Every first Wednesday in February we see a ton of surprises, head scratchers and just downright shockers. This NSD will be no different, folks, and here are a few that could happen.

Let's get started.

Ifeadi Odenigbo to Stanford

If you've followed Odenigbo's recruitment, it's obvious what's the No.1 factor for him: education. He wants to go a highly prestigious academic school.

No offense to Ohio State, but Northwestern and Notre Dame are on his list for a reason. However, so is Stanford.

Combine a great campus with a solid football program, remembering the great unofficial visit Odenigbo has on The Farm in the summer, and I come to the conclusion Stanford wins out here. 

Barry Sanders to Stanford, Too

Oklahoma State is pushing hard for Sanders, and we all know his dad went there. But hey, this is a "surprises" piece, and combine that with the fact Stanford has remained thick in this race since the start.

I say Sanders heads to the Farm with Odenigbo, as maybe he wants to create his own lineage and get out of his father's shadow.

Toting the rock in Stillwater would do nothing to help that, if that is what he wants to do.

Dorial Green-Beckham To...

Arkansas. I think the Hogs have a little buzz around them, as DGB really likes the program. It's not too far from home, Bobby Petrino is an offensive-minded head coach and prepares his receivers for the NFL.

Green-Beckham could grow into a monster in Fayetteville under Petrino and his staff's tutelage. He knows that, Arkansas knows it and it could happen starting on NSD.

I just think Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas will have something to say about that.
