Fantasy Football Week 13: Flex Rankings, Waiver-Wire Targets and Projections

Scott PolacekNov 28, 2022

Week 13's waiver wire isn't going to make or break many fantasy football leagues.

After all, the Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers are the only teams on a bye, so there aren't as many roster holes to plug. What's more, most of the impact waiver-wire players have been scooped up at this point.

There are still some names to target, though, as the stretch run of the regular season approaches.

Waiver-Wire Options

Isaiah McKenzie, WR, Buffalo Bills

Fantasy football players know that Buffalo Bills games are often defined by the Josh Allen-Stefon Diggs combination, but they weren't the only ones making noise during Thursday's win over the Detroit Lions.

Instead, Isaiah McKenzie led the visitors with 96 receiving yards on six catches. He also scored a touchdown and had two rushes as someone who gave Allen some different looks while working out of the slot.

It should be noted that Allen has dealt with an elbow injury, which may slightly limit his ability to consistently throw deep at times. Gabe Davis does his best work on long passes, which could lead to more of a reliance on McKenzie as a secondary receiver to Diggs in the immediate future.

Fantasy players looking for a matchup stash should also look toward McKenzie considering the Bills face the Chicago Bears in Week 16.

That is right during the middle of fantasy playoff season, and the Bears defense has allowed an average of 34.6 points per game the last five contests. The unit is among the worst in the league and no longer has Robert Quinn or Roquan Smith after in-season trades.

Buffalo is going to put up plenty of points, and McKenzie will be an important contributor.

Projected Stat Line for Week 13 at New England: 7 catches for 77 yards and one touchdown

JaMycal Hasty, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars

Sunday was a day filled with good news for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

They stunned the Baltimore Ravens in a 28-27 victory. Young quarterback Trevor Lawrence looked like a star in the making while directing the game-winning drive. And a rebuilding team has some momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season.

Perhaps the only bad news was running back Travis Etienne Jr.'s foot injury that limited him to just two carries.

But even that led to a solution, as JaMycal Hasty took over at running back and finished with 95 yards from scrimmage. The 12 carries for 28 yards left plenty to be desired, but his five catches for 67 yards and one touchdown proved particularly valuable, especially for fantasy football players in point-per-reception leagues.

While Etienne said he should return for the next game against the Detroit Lions, per John Shipley of Jaguar Report, that matchup against a 4-7 team with an inconsistent defense also means Hasty should have some opportunities to build on his recent performance.

He proved he can be a change-of-pace back who gives Lawrence another option, and the chance that continues makes him worthy of a waiver-wire target for fantasy players in deeper leagues in need of running back help.

Projected Stat Line for Week 13 against Detroit Lions: 3 carries for 14 yards and 6 catches for 61 yards

Van Jefferson, WR, Los Angeles Rams

Things have not gone according to plan for the Los Angeles Rams this season.

The reigning Super Bowl champions were without quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receivers Cooper Kupp and Allen Robinson II during Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Los Angeles is now 3-8 on the campaign and nowhere near a playoff threat.

Kupp may not return this season after undergoing ankle surgery, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported it remains "uncertain" that Stafford will be back, and head coach Sean McVay told reporters Robinson needs foot surgery and is out for the year.

Someone is going to have to catch passes for the Rams, and Van Jefferson found the end zone in Sunday's 26-10 loss. He has touchdowns in two of the last three games and is the default No. 1 wide receiver moving forward at this point.

The Rams will likely be playing from behind a lot as well given their track record this season, which will open up more opportunities and targets for Jefferson.

He isn't someone who is going to consistently put up 100-plus receiving yards in a game, but the injuries elsewhere on the roster will give Jefferson a chance to be an impact waiver-wire addition for the stretch run.

Projected Stat Line for Week 13 against Seattle Seahawks: 7 catches for 81 yards and one touchdown
