Manchester City vs. Liverpool: Live Blog

Peter WebsterJun 7, 2018

Welcome to the live blog of Manchester City vs. Liverpool with me, Peter C. Webster.

Manchester City come into this match having lost 1-0 last time out against Sunderland following an injury-time goal from late substitute Ji on New Years Day.

He was offside, but the history books won't show that.

City's title charge has started to wobble as of late, but their home form is immaculate going into this game with nine out of nine wins, scoring 28 goals and conceding just four.

Named only on the bench against Sunderland, David Silva and Sergio Aguero are likely to be brought back into the starting line up as City look to bounce back from defeat and put distance between themselves and neighbours Manchester United at the top of the table.

Liverpool, on the other hand, put in a good second-half display against Newcastle late on Friday night in order to secure a 3-1 victory.

When I say Liverpool, I actually mean Steven Gerrard.

Liverpool are now hot on the heels of Chelsea, and with Arsenal slipping up against Fulham yesterday, Liverpool could leapfrog the Gunners into fifth with a win.

With the club seemingly unsure over what their next step will be concerning Luis Suarez, this may be one of the few times we get to see Suarez and Gerrard playing together which makes for an exciting prospect.

It should be a thrilling encounter and I'll be bringing you the starting lineups, followed by live text commentary throughout.

Coverage will start at 7:30 p.m. GMT/2:30 p.m. EST.
