Kevin Garnett Shows USA Fans the Way in Purchase of AS Roma Shares
Kevin Garnett has bought into soccer, and now it's time for American fans to do the same.
Roger Bennett, in an April ESPN article, covers a very American English Premier League. Teams are being purchased left and right by American owners that see the value in such an investment. We will get back to what value there is for us fans without billions in a minute.
On Friday, NBA.com reported Kevin Garnett "is about to become a limited shareholder in the American-owned Roma soccer club." You see? Even the millionaires are falling in line.

Now it's time for those of us without private jets or chauffeurs to buy into the sport that the world has long gone mad for.
The purchase of the Serie A side was documented in an October Bloomberg article that cited the move to make AS Roma a global force in world football. The unfortunate part is that the effort will have to be tempered to include the entire world, up to these American shores.
We have flirted with the game that makes Europe shake and South America quiver. Every continent has bought in, and nearly every country within them.
We are yet to buy in fully to a sport that would dare, gasp, have ties as part of a regular season game. And god forbid we appreciate a match that might contain not one iota of offense.
Trust me, I understand. I was among the millions that scoffed at soccer as devoid of any and all entertainment value. It only took a concerted effort to sit and watch why they call it the beautiful game.
I have to applaud the nation for taking baby steps. World Cup ratings were up, and this USA Today article shows that EPL ratings are as well. We just can't seem to get on board with the MLS yet, but that should follow.
We are on the cusp of buying. Like Kevin Garnett, we have only bought shares of interest in this wonderful sport. The tipping point is not far off until we see relegation can be one of the best things in the world, and ties can be fun, for the most part.
The rest of us need to realize that soccer isn't the worst thing in the world. After that, we will soon find that it can be one of the best.
