Theirry Henry "Almost Certain" to Rejoin Arsenal on Loan, Confirms Arsene Wenger

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has all but confirmed Thierry Henry will rejoin the club on loan in January. Wenger said this morning a two-month deal "will almost certainly happen,"—with just a few minor details left to iron out with regard to his contract.

The 34-year-old Henry, who scored 226 goals in his eight years at the club from 1999 to 2007, has been training with the Arsenal first team this winter, and suitably impressed to earn himself a second coming in north London.

Henry is contracted to New York Red Bulls in the MLS, but according to the Daily Mail a deal has been worked out for Arsenal to cover his £70,000/week wages and put in place an insurance package should the Frenchman suffer a serious injury. It is the insurance element the Guardian claim is yet to be settled.

The deal likely echoes those agreed for David Beckham, who spent two loan spells with AC Milan during his time contracted to LA Galaxy.

Here are the Wenger quotes from the Guardian article.

"It can only be positive, because he has exceptional talent. He is experienced, he is quality, and can help the players on and off the pitch. He has still class, pace and quality. He is here to help the club he loves. But we must not put too much pressure on him. He is 34. He needs two good weeks' work. He is here to help – not suddenly be the main player. It shows that Arsenal is always special to players, such as Sol Campbell, Jens Lehmann and now Thierry. When Robin and Thierry play together we will do very well."

The Daily Mail suggest Henry will wear the No. 12 jersey, and raise the possibility he could make his Arsenal return in their FA Cup third round tie against Leeds United on January 9.
