WWE WrestleMania 38: Early Predictions for Announced Matches on the Card

Mike ChiariMar 28, 2022

WrestleMania 38 gets underway Saturday, meaning the cards for Night 1 and Night 2 of the massive spectacle are essentially locked in.

Many of WWE's biggest stars will be in action, as will some celebrities who generally aren't known for stepping inside the squared circle.

WrestleMania has long been built on the foundation of mixing celebrity involvement with pro wrestling star power, concluding long-running storylines and potential 5-star matches, and WrestleMania 38 could bring all of that to the table.

Here are predictions for the announced WrestleMania 38 matches, as well as some further analysis regarding a few of the most highly anticipated bouts at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

WrestleMania 38 Match Predictions

  • Roman Reigns def. Brock Lesnar
  • Bianca Belair def. Becky Lynch
  • Ronda Rousey def. Charlotte Flair
  • AJ Styles def. Edge
  • Rey & Dominik Mysterio def. The Miz & Logan Paul
  • Drew McIntyre def. Happy Corbin
  • RK-Bro def. The Street Profits & Alpha Academy
  • The Usos def. Shinsuke Nakamura & Rick Boogs
  • Pat McAfee def. Austin Theory
  • Johnny Knoxville def. Sami Zayn
  • Sasha Banks & Naomi def. Carmella & Queen Zelina, Rhea Ripley & Liv Morgan, Natalya & Shayna Baszler

Pat McAfee vs. Austin Theory

SmackDown commentator and former Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee may not be a wrestler by trade, but he is no stranger to the ring.

Before he was hired as an announcer on SmackDown, McAfee enjoyed a stint in NXT that saw him face Adam Cole in a singles match and all of Undisputed Era in a WarGames match. He performed well beyond expectations, which lends hope that he will come up big once again at WrestleMania.

McAfee is set to lock horns with Austin Theory, who has been a thorn in his side for several weeks.

WWE chairman Vince McMahon was the one who gave McAfee the opportunity to compete at WrestleMania, and he has also been Theory's on-screen mentor.

The promotion has yet to announce whether McMahon will have any other involvement in the match, but it would make sense for him to be a special guest referee or enforcer.

Assuming that turns out to be the case, McMahon would have a major hand in determining the result of the match, and the assumption is that he would heel it up and side with Theory.

Instead, look for McMahon to turn his back on his protege and side with McAfee in a winning effort instead.

RK-Bro vs. The Street Profits vs. Alpha Academy

Perhaps it hasn't been talked about as much as many of the other matches on the WrestleMania 38 card, but the Raw Tag Team Championship Triple Threat has a chance to be something special.

RK-Bro will put the titles on the line against two of the top tag teams WWE has to offer in The Street Profits and Alpha Academy.

Fans were given close to a sneak peek of that match a few weeks ago when RK-Bro won back the Raw Tag Team Championship in a tag team Triple Threat match against Alpha Academy and the team of Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins on Raw.

Everyone in the contest performed at a high level, and it was one of the best tag team matches to air on Raw in recent memory.

With The Street Profits replacing Owens and Rollins at WrestleMania, they shouldn't miss a beat, especially if the teams are given ample time to perform.

The match would be a perfect one to open Night 2 of WrestleMania, especially because of how over RK-Bro and The Street Profits are with the fans.

Having Randy Orton and Riddle retain by pinning one of Chad Gable or Otis would be the preferred booking decision since it would then allow RK-Bro and The Street Profits to branch off into their own feud, and it could lead to a Street Profits heel turn given the edge they have show recently.

AJ Styles vs. Edge

The title unification match between universal champion Roman Reigns and WWE champion Brock Lesnar is set to headline Night 2 of WrestleMania, but it can be argued that it isn't the most highly anticipated match on the card.

That honor may belong to the grudge match between two of the best in-ring workers in the world in AJ Styles and Edge.

It was only a few weeks ago that Styles stepped up and established himself as Edge's WrestleMania opponent, and Edge met him with an unexpected response, taking out Styles with a conchairto.

The Rated R Superstar has continued to impose his will on The Phenomenal One since then, including attacking Styles with a steel chair on the most recent Raw.

Styles and Edge have quickly built a solid story, plus they both have the in-ring chops to make their bout not only the best at WrestleMania 38 but one of the best in the event's history.

Both Superstars could benefit from winning, but since Styles is a full-time wrestler and Edge takes time off periodically, it would probably be wise lean toward the former.

Having Styles use a chair against Edge en route to victory would be poetic justice, and it would also allow the Hall of Famer to step away for a bit.
