WWE: Cody Rhodes vs. Goldust Absolutely Needs to Happen at WrestleMania 28
We wanted it to happen. It needed to happen. And now, it looks like it will happen.
When Cody Rhodes and Dustin Rhodes met in the ring on SmackDown last week, we all got what we wanted. We got a rivalry.
The reasons why this needed to happen were simple; a family that plays in wrestling, stays in wrestling. I think I will explain a little more.

Dustin Rhodes and Cody Rhodes may be brothers and the sons of the American Dream Dusty Rhodes, but their paths toward stardom are very different and while both live a charmed wrestling life, somehow being the son of a three-time world champion has had its hardships.
It would appear more so for Dustin rather than Cody that there was anger and pain from Dusty's wrestling lifestyle.
Cody attacking his brother speaks to everything that a good rivalry between family members is; greed, power, insanity and the idea that one is better than the other. And we of course want to see who is better.
Dustin Rhodes started out as a young kid trying to escape his father's shadow in WCW and eventually took on the persona of Goldust as a way to act out his feelings toward Dusty for living the wrestling life while young Dustin was growing up.
Cody seems to have had more of a relationship with his father growing up. So the sibling rivalry took on another angle.
But seeing Dustin and Cody in the ring means more than just two brothers trying to garner their father's attention. It links the past of the WWF and one of the best gimmicks ever in the company to a wrestler who appears on the fast track to success.
Rhodes is making a very quick rise to the top of the company, holding the Intercontinental Title and is a possible challenger for Daniel Bryan's World Title.
Also, after seeing the video of Dustin licking his wounds after the attack, it should lead to Goldust coming out of the depths to challenge his brother.
In the past, we have seen brothers and family members brawl. Jeff and Matt Hardy. Jerry Lawler and Brian Christopher. Owen and Bret Hart. Bret Hart and the British Bulldog. Any of the McMahons.
This one could be better than any of those. And if it culminated at WrestleMania XXXVIII, it would only be one of biggest and most anticipated matches in some time.
