WWE News: Jim Ross Expecting to See John Morrison in WWE in 2012

Drake OzDec 30, 2011

John Morrison debuted in the WWE all way back in 2004, and by most measures, he had a pretty successful WWE career.

He won five tag team championships, the ECW World Championship and the Intercontinental title, and he developed a reputation as one of the most exciting and entertaining wrestlers in the entire company.

Unfortunately for Morrison fans, however, he parted ways with the WWE last month when his contract expired and he decided not to sign a new one. Now, the good news: Former WWE announcer Jim Ross—who currently works for the company in a backstage capacity---thinks Morrison will be back in the WWE next year.

From SEScoops.com:

"

Jim Ross believes John Morrison will return to WWE next year after parting ways with the organization in November.

He tweeted, “Morrison didn’t renew his contract. Taking time off to heal, rest, train. He’ll likely be back sometime in 2012. Smart move.”

"

I’m not the biggest Morrison fan ever or anything like that, but I still think it would be a great move for the WWE to bring him back at some point in 2012.

He may not be a huge draw, the best promo guy or the most charismatic wrestler out there, but he definitely has a spot in the WWE as an upper mid-carder (heel or baby face) and—if he ever steps up his promo game—a potential main event level talent.

Few wrestlers have the sheer athleticism that Morrison possesses, and he could provide the WWE with the versatile mid-carder that it’s sorely lacking at the moment.

The WWE does have its bright spots in the mid-card scene—Cody Rhodes, Zack Ryder, etc.—but there are very few challengers for the Intercontinental and United States Championships at the time being, and Morrison would fit perfectly into either title picture.

I hope that Ross is indeed right and that Morrison makes his way back to the WWE sometime soon, preferably before WrestleMania because I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing him compete in another epic Money in the Bank match.
