Based on comments from general manager John Schneider, Trevon Diggs has support within the Seahawks organization. 

Because of injuries and poor coverage, Diggs has fallen off his All-Pro, Pro Bowl years, but he's still 27 and could have a career resurgence if healthy with the right team.

Assuming Seattle signs Diggs to its practice squad, he'll have a chance to work his way into the cornerback rotation on the boundary.

Based on Tua Tagovailoa's and Michael Penix's injury histories, it makes sense for the Atlanta Falcons to retain four quarterbacks.

That said, Jack Strand certainly earned his spot with a strong showing through the preseason, throwing for 305 yards, two touchdowns and an interception and rushing for two scores.

By the way, Tagovailoa struggled in joint practices, and Penix spent most of the summer recovering from knee surgery.

Journeyman backup Cooper Rush would likely get the nod before Strand if needed, but if the Falcons' season goes off the rails, the undrafted rookie may get some time on the field.

Jordyn Tyson left practice with a hamstring injury on August 13, a couple of days before the New Orleans Saints' preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He's been on the sideline since then.

Because of Tyson's injury history, the Saints will likely bring him along with caution. Chris Olave leads the wide receiver group. Devaughn Vele, rookie fourth-rounder Bryce Lance and impressive undrafted rookie Barion Brown can be secondary targets in the passing game.

At the earliest, Tyson can make his pro debut at home against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 5.

The Giants selected Evan Neal with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2022 draft, and he hasn't come close to fulfilling expectations. 

After three years at right tackle, Neal moved to guard over the last two preseasons. He hasn't played a regular-season down since the 2024 campaign. The 25-year-old has 27 starts in 29 outings.

Joe Schoen has come to terms with the realization that he whiffed on Neal, who was his second draft pick as the Giants' general manager. Aaron Stinnie and third-year undrafted pro Bryan Hudson will provide depth on the interior of the offensive line.

For now, J.J. McCarthy has a spot on the Vikings' 53-man roster, though that could change before Week 1.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler speculated that McCarthy could fall behind Carson Wentz to No. 3 on Minnesota's depth chart, or that the team could trade him.

McCarthy suffered an ankle injury in Week 2 of the preseason, which may have dinged his trade value. So, it's worth monitoring his situation going into the regular season, especially if teams lose quarterbacks to injuries. 

Typically, teams give second-round picks a few years to develop, even if they have slow starts to their careers. Chris Braswell didn't make it to his third season with the Buccaneers.

In 34 games, Braswell recorded 48 tackles, five for loss, and 2.5 sacks. He hasn't been able to crack the starting lineup and played fewer than 30 percent of the defensive snaps in both of his seasons.

The Buccaneers signed Al-Quadin Muhammad and drafted Rueben Bain Jr. with the No. 15 overall pick in the draft to bolster their pass rush. With those additions, Braswell ran out of time to make his presence felt in Tampa Bay.

This isn't a surprise given that Tank Dell is on the mend from a dislocated kneecap, torn ACL, MCL and LCL and damage to his meniscus—significant injuries that required multiple surgeries.

Dell didn't have a full workload in the offseason, but he's made strides toward a return, though the 26-year-old isn't quite ready to see the field yet.

In a deal with the New England Patriots, the Texans acquired Kayshon Boutte, who could fill a major void in the wide receiver group after Jayden Higgins tore his ACL at training camp. 

Dell will miss at least the first four games of the upcoming season, but barring any setbacks, he's on track to make a return at some point this year.

Colts had a tough decision, but they'll go with the undrafted third-year pro out of Notre Dame, who's from Westfield, Indiana.

Last season, Spencer Shrader split the uprights on 13 of 14 field-goal attempts and made all 14 of his extra-point attempts. He tore his ACL and MCL last October.

Grupe, who also played at Notre Dame, appeared in five games with the team and was perfect on 11 field-goal attempts and 10 extra-point attempts.

Shrader has had an inspiring comeback. Grupe could generate interest on the free-agent market.

Early in the 2025 season, James Conner suffered a foot injury and underwent season-ending surgery. He's still working his way back and needs more time for recovery.

Arizona signed Tyler Allgeier and drafted Jeremiyah Love with the No. 3 overall pick, but according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the latter suffered a high ankle sprain during the preseason.

Even if Love is on the field in Week 1, Allgeier could handle the bulk of the carries to start the 2026 campaign.

What year is it? 

It's a full-circle career moment for Odell Beckham Jr., who will be on the Giants' regular-season roster again. In the preseason, he caught seven passes for 76 yards, showing he has more left in the tank at 33 years old.

Originally a first-round pick from the Giants' 2014 class, Beckham can bring leadership to a locker room in transition under new head coach John Harbaugh. Remember, they worked together through the 2023 campaign with the Baltimore Ravens.

Giants fans can rejoice in nostalgia with the sight of Beckham in blue again. 

On the flip side, Beckham's secured roster spot raises questions about wideouts Darius Slayton and Darnell Mooney. None of the three receivers has much special teams experience, and that's usually the norm for backups outside the top three spots.

With Malik Nabers and rookie third-rounder Malachi Fields also on the depth chart, the Giants could make a surprising cut or trade at wide receiver.

Houston revamped the interior of its offensive line, signing Wyatt Teller, Evan Brown and drafting Keylan Rutledge and Febechi Nwaiwu in the first and fourth rounds, respectively. 

As a result, Patterson fell on the depth chart, though he has 21 starts on his three-year resume. He has experience primarily at center but lined up mostly at left guard last season.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, San Francisco released guard Robert Jones, who practiced with the first-team offense before he suffered a calf strain.

The 49ers selected Carver Willis in the fourth round of the draft, but Patterson offers game-ready experience at left guard.

The Broncos have a crowded tight end room.

Evan Engram leads the group. Denver re-signed Adam Trautman and Nate Adkins and then drafted Justin Joly and Dallen Bentley in the fifth and seventh rounds, respectively. 

Despite a slow adjustment to the pro level, Joly flashed his pass-catching potential in Denver's preseason finale. The Broncos are taking a bit of a risk by waiving him.

Braxton Berrios is a vested veteran with seven years of pro experience, so he's not subject to waivers. 

The Giants may have an agreement in place for his return to the practice squad, allowing them to elevate him at least three times before he must stay on the active roster.

If Big Blue brings back Berrios, he can provide depth at receiver and contribute to special teams. 

Also, according to The New York Post's Ryan Dunleavy, the Giants may entertain trade offers for wideout Darius Slayton.

If New York deals Slayton, it could open up a back-end roster spot for Berrios in Week 1.

Aaron Donald retired following the 2023 season. After two years away from the field, he's coming back to suit up with the Los Angeles Rams alongside two-time Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett, whom the team acquired from the Cleveland Browns in June.

Donald and Garrett have won five Defensive Player of the Year awards combined. Assuming the former can get back into game shape on at least 60 percent of the snaps, the duo will wreak havoc on offensive lines across the league.

The Rams have an offense that scored the most points last year and a star-studded defensive line.

Just a week ago, the 49ers traded running back Zamir White to the New Orleans Saints for Deion Jones. Both have been cut today.

The 49ers have a history of dealing with injuries, but Jones didn't have enough time to secure a roster spot. Four-time first-team All-Pro Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw, who returns to San Francisco after a year in Denver, are the team's lead linebackers.

According to Chicago Tribune's Brad Briggs, the Bears released Jedrick Wills with an injury settlement.

The Bears can write off Kiran Amegadjie as a project player who didn't pan out. Also, general manager Ryan Poles drafted him for the team's previous coaching staff.

That said, Ozzy Trapilo made a quick recovery from a torn patellar tendon, an injury he suffered in January. Because of his return, the Bears don't need to keep as much backup at his position going into the regular season.

In addition to Jaydon Blue, the Cowboys also waived Phil Mafah, per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Both competed for the primary backup role behind Javonte Williams.

Malik Davis is set to be the Cowboys' No. 2 running back and earned the job. Still, it's surprising to see the team part ways with Blue, whom they selected in the fifth round of last year's draft.

In his rookie campaign, Blue recorded 38 carries for 129 yards and a touchdown. 

The Steelers weren't going to get much for an unproven ball-carrier with just 28 carries for 69 yards in two years. Also, they made it clear that Johnson no longer fit in their backfield rotation with the addition of Rico Dowdle, who's primed to split touches with Jaylen Warren.

The Packers will work on Johnson's development. Only 23, he still has some upside as a third-round pick from the 2025 draft.

The Las Vegas Raiders traded versatile interior offensive lineman Jordan Meredith to the New York Jets, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. 

So, this move suggests that they feel comfortable with rookie third-rounder Trey Zuhn III as their backup center behind three-time Pro Bowler Tyler Linderbaum.

Last season, under the Raiders' previous coaching regime, Meredith played center after a decent 2024 season at guard. He didn't fare well and eventually lost the starting job to Will Putnam, who also had some rough outings.

According to The Athletic's Sam Warren, Zuhn took snaps at center with the second-team offense at practice. Although he played left tackle in college at Texas A&M, he could handle multiple roles in Las Vegas, with center being one of them.

Will Levis struggled through two seasons with the Tennessee Titans before he underwent season-ending shoulder surgery last offseason. 

In 21 starts, Levis threw for 3,899 yards, 21 touchdowns and 16 interceptions with a 61 percent completion rate. He also fumbled 17 times, which contributed to his turnover-prone play.

A second-round pick from the 2023 draft, Levis will likely get a chance to revive his career elsewhere now he's healthy coming off surgery.

Likely aware of Josh Jacobs' potential absence, the Green Bay Packers added to their running back group, acquiring Kaleb Johnson from the Pittsburgh Steelers, per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

As of now, MarShawn Lloyd and Chris Brooks will likely handle the bulk of the rushing workload as Johnson adjusts to a new team. 

Over the previous two seasons, Green Bay has ranked fifth and seventh in rush attempts. So, whoever fills Jacobs' void should have a significant role in the team's ground attack.

Meanwhile, Jacobs faces a suspension from the league and won't be able to play or practice.
