Moses Itauma has a chance to move into the coveted "future of boxing" position on Saturday when he fights veteran contender Filip Hrgović for the IBF's vacant share of the heavyweight title at the O2 Arena in London.

Itauma, a 21-year-old Englishman for those unaware, would become history's second-youngest heavyweight title claimant, behind only Mike Tyson. who was 20.

"I wasn't supposed to do this," Itauma said. "When I was younger, my parents wanted me to learn something academic so I'd become a doctor or a lawyer. But when I was around 15 everybody was on the same page that I'm into boxing and this is my identity."

The prodigy is 14-0 with 12 KOs since turning pro in 2023, while Hrgović, 34, is 20-1 with 15 KOs and has won three straight since an eighth-round loss to Daniel Dubois for a lower-tier IBF belt in June 2024.

Ring Magazine's rankings have Hrgović sixth overall among heavyweights (including champion Oleksandr Usyk), a slot above Itauma in seventh.

A big believer in Hrgović are you?

Well, it'll be worth some money if the towering (6'6") Croat wins, given that the folks at DraftKings have pegged him as a +550 underdog heading in.

That means a $100 bet in his direction would generate a $550 payout.

Those more inclined to go with Itauma, however, have a different proposition.

The younger man is a -900 favorite, meaning it'll take $900 in advance to pick up a $100 profit if he goes ahead and wins the fight.

Piqued Curiosity

Well, if nothing else, these guys know how to make things interesting.

Itauma and Hrgović became the latest in a long line of would-be opponents to stir things up ahead of their bout, with Itauma pushing Hrgović off the stage after their final pre-fight faceoff and Hrgović responding with a slap to Itauma's mouth.
