Back from the break, Flair was forced to fight from underneath as Cargill controlled the bout throughout.

She did, and as the action broke down, B-Fab and Michin made their presence felt. Alexa Bliss made her return following her elbow injury, and as she made her way to the ring, the lights went out. When they came back on, NXT's Tatum Paxley was perched upon the ring post.

The former black and silver brand's women's champion launched herself off it and onto the heels while Flair and Cargill continued their battle.

Ultimately, Flair scaled the ropes and delivered a super Natural Selection, pinning Cargill and scoring the win.

WINNER: CHARLOTTE FLAIR

Flair, Bliss, and Paxley stood tall to close out the show.

The match may have been a dream one for many, but the rushed nature of it, the run-ins at the end, and some disjointed action down the stretch limited its overall quality.

Luckily, the Paxley debut will be remembered most from the match, with plenty of potential to have long-reaching effects.

A match weeks in the making saw Flair and Cargill settle their differences in the main event.

Cargill ordered B-Fab and Michin to the back, determined to prove she could defeat Flair on her own.

Intense grappling spilled to the floor, where Cargill seized the upper hand by hoisting Flair onto her shoulders and dropping her across the announce table.

The Storm stood tall heading into the ad break.

In his first appearance on WWE in months, Shinsuke Nakamura issued a warning to the MFTs.

The Artist said he was back, and this time, when he combats them, he will not be alone.

That instantly creates intrigue surrounding the impending match-up and who Nakamura may have brought with him to battle Tama and Talla Tonga.

In a pre-taped vignette, Nikki Bella explained her actions from SummerSlam, recalling how hard she worked to win tag team gold at WrestleMania, only for Paige to replace her after she suffered a foot injury.

She said she made Paige relevant again, only for her to lose the tag team titles and then get her sister, Brie, injured. She vowed to make Paige's life a living hell for whatever time she has left in WWE.

The Viper hit the ring to a big ovation Friday, delivering his trademark pose and preparing to address the WWE Universe.

Rhodes wasted no time interrupting, chasing him off. He demanded that Orton get in the ring.

Nick Aldis, producers, and referees appeared in hopes of preventing a brawl.

The future Hall of Famer revealed that his former protege permitting him to be the best Randy Orton possible, insulted him. He rolled into WrestleMania 42, gave him the best version of himself, and The American Nightmare still beat him.

"The best version of Randy Orton wasn't going to win No. 15," he said, but the worst version damn sure will.

Rhodes exclaimed, "I don't have to be the good guy anymore," a statement that fired up the crowd. The former Undisputed WWE Champion laid down the gauntlet once more and the two stared each other down to close the segment.

Backstage, Sami Zayn ranted to Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae. CM Punk arrived on the scene. "Are we still doing this? By 'this,' I mean you running your mouth behind my back."

Punk laughed off Zayn's broken hand. "If you could have, you would have in Chicago, but you lost."

An irate Zayn asked, "How are you going to let him talk to us like that, Johnny?!"

The video package, set to Godsmack's "I Stand Alone," aired as WWE paid homage to the newly retired Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar announced his retirement from the squared circle Tuesday during an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show on ESPN.

Stratton and Green fended off Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid coming out of the break, leaving them reeling entering another timeout.

During the picture-in-picture presentation, however, the heels downed Green and worked over her, isolating her from her partner and seizing control of the bout.

A miscommunication spot created an opening for Green to find space and make a tag to Stratton.

The US champion exploded into the match and took Reid down with the cartwheel Alabama Slam. A Swanton Bomb followed, but Henley rocked her with a hard right hand from out of nowhere.

Green cleared here out of the ring and set up for the Unprettier on Reid. The heel escaped, but only long enough to be slammed from the top rope.

On the floor, Jacy Jayne rocked Green with a Rolling Encore, only to be sent into the guardrail by Stratton. Henley laid out Tiffy Time, then joined Reid for the Fatal Flaw on the women's champion as the heels retained their gold.

WINNERS: FATAL INFLUENCE

After the match, Nia Jax and Lash Legend attacked from out of nowhere, laying the babyfaces out. Jax stood over Green, raising the women's title overhead and seemingly setting up the babyface's first challenger.

An inoffensive match that never really got going because of the ad breaks, it at least put the babyfaces on the defensive while introducing rivalries for both, with Jayne vs. Stratton and Jax vs. Green looking to be on the horizon.

Backstage, a confrontation between Damian Priest, R-Truth, and The War Raiders ended with the revelation that the WWE Tag Team Champions will defend their gold against Erik and Ivar, as well as the MTFs, next week.

Chelsea Green won the Ladder Match to win the Interim WWE Women's Championship at SummerSlam, outlasting four other women to claim the gold.

She thanked the fans for cheering and herself before introducing her new best friend, Tiffany Stratton.

The Women's United States Champion joined Green and said she wanted to talk to her about something, only for Fatal Influence's music to cut her off.

Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, and Lainey Reid arrived, with the former claiming Stratton cost her a spot in the SummerSlam match. Jayne said she should take the US title off Stratton, and the champion said she would give her a title shot next week under one condition: Fatal Influence gives her and Green a tag title shot tonight.

The heels agreed as the show went to break.

Backstage, Cathy Kelley caught up with Baron Corbin, who balked at the suggestion that he has scored two "upsets" against Trick Williams since returning.

Corbin became distracted by Carmelo Hayes, who attacked him and revealed that he will challenge for the gold next Friday night, live from his hometown in Boston.

Backstage, Sami Zayn confronted general manager Nick Aldis about what he perceives to be the screwjob that cost him a shot at the WWE Championship.

Kevin Owens appeared, coming face-to-face with Zayn for the first time since he stunned the world at SummerSlam.

He insisted that Zayn would have done the same thing had he been in his position and thanked his friend for offering to help him take the title from CM Punk, but said he had waited too long to get the champion in the ring.

Zayn warned Owens not to think he is going to stop chasing what he wants, just because it is what KO wants.

"Six days. I've been back for six days," Owens uttered as he walked off.

Corbin controlled the pace coming out of the break, but Williams mounted a comeback. He rocked Corbin with an axe kick, then drove Corbin to the mat with his modified Death Valley Driver for a two-count.

The champion used Williams' momentum against him, catching him and driving him to the mat with Deep Six. He scored a near-fall off his signature set-up move.

The babyface recovered and dropped Corbin with a jumping neckbreaker for another close call. From there, he escaped the End of Days and delivered the Trick Shot, only for the heel to barely grab hold of the ropes to break the count.

Rolling to the floor for sanctuary, Corbin grabbed hold of the United States Championship behind the official's back and blasted his opponent with it. Three seconds later, he successfully retained his title.

WINNER: BARON CORBIN

A better match than their overbooked affair at SummerSlam, this was a fun match that fed off the crowd's energy and featured the right guy going over. Corbin as the heel champion whom Williams chases is a better option for the babyface than him carrying the title at this point.

Hellbent on "whoppin dat ass" and regaining his United States Championship, Williams wasted little time taking the fight to Corbin, who entered the arena on a motorcycle.

The incredibly popular former champion brawled with The Nomad on the arena floor. He launched him into the timekeeper's position and took flight, jumping on him.

Williams stood tall entering the timeout.

Fresh off his victory at SummerSlam, Kevin Owens entered the arena, passed Rhodes, and entered the squared circle. He came face-to-face with Punk, and the two traded trash talk as SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis arrived on the scene.

Both men insisted they were professionals before turning their attention to each other.

Owens knocked Punk's arrogance, claiming it is why he knows he is the same sociopath he always has been.

The champion responded that his arrogance made it possible for guys like Owens to find success in WWE. "They used to call me 'skinny-fat.' Do you think they were holding their breath, waiting for Kevin Owens?" Punk asked.

Owens thanked Punk for setting an example of what not to become. He said Punk taught him not to let the business turn him into a "miserable piece of s**t" like the champion.

The opening segment was 23 minutes of layered storytelling that teased Punk's rematch with Rhodes, nodded to The American Nightmare's unfinished business with KO, and added good, old-fashioned heat to the impending championship clash between two of the best promos in the business.

Great stuff to continue WWE's hot week of TV.

Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk joined The American Nightmare in the squared circle and admitted that he was a little hurt that his friend thought he knew about Orton, but he did not.

Punk admitted he was just as pissed off about Orton interfering and offered to "Two-Man Power Trip" the place until they found the future Hall of Famer and beat him up.

Instead, Rhodes turned the ring over to Punk, who offered a rematch, so they can settle their unfinished business.

"Say when."

Rhodes nodded as another familiar theme song hit.

Still fuming following the interference from the returning Randy Orton that dashed his dreams of regaining the Undisputed WWE Championship, Rhodes kicked off Friday's show to a thunderous ovation and wasted no time calling The Viper out.

While he waited for his former mentor to oblige him, Rhodes talked about great memories, including those involving Dory Funk Jr. and his WWE title win 200 yards away at Lincoln Financial Field at WrestleMania 40.

"Now, I have to assume CM Punk did not know Randy Orton was going to interfere..." he started before familiar theme music interrupted.

WWE paid tribute to the late Dory Funk Jr., who passed away on Tuesday. One of the greatest, most influential wrestlers of all time, his impact on the industry can be felt today in the Superstars he trained.

Earlier today, Trick Williams arrived at the arena, ready to regain the United States Championship that he lost Sunday night.

Jade Cargill, B-Fab, and Michin were shown entering the Xfinity Mobile Arena, as was Charlotte Flair. The Queen battles the Storm later tonight.

Ahead of Friday's show, newly reinstated SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis took to WWE's social media to announce a championship rematch in the City of Brotherly Love.
