2026 NFL Training Camp Live Updates, Rumors and Highlights from August 4

With several stars getting hefty paydays on Tuesday, including Ravens receiver Zay Flowers, it's fair to wonder what's next. Minnesota Vikings wideout Jordan Addison, who was drafted one pick after Flowers, could be in that next-up group.

However, Addison said on Tuesday that "right now," he's focused on putting in the work for 2026, per ESPN's Kevin Seifert:

Addison has been a solid second option behind Justin Jefferson since arriving in Minnesota. In his three seasons, he's caught 175 passes for 2,396 yards and 22 touchdowns.

However, Addison's production dipped in 2025, as did the entire Vikings offense. Last year's offensive performance is one of the reasons why Minnesota's ongoing QB battle between Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy is so fascinating.

Injuries are an unfortunate part of training camp, and whenever a star player goes down, it's concerning. The Denver Broncos had a bit of a scare early during Tuesday's practice when star edge-rusher Nik Bonitto left the field and went to the locker room with trainers.

Fortunately, head coach Sean Payton said after practice that Bonitto should be fine, per DNVR's Zac Stevens.

Bonitto recorded a career-high 14.0 sacks in 2025 en route to his second consecutive Pro Bowl appearance. Denver signed him to a four-year, $106 million extension just before the start of last season.

Pass-rusher Micah Parsons was fantastic in his first season with the Green Bay Packers before a torn ACL derailed his campaign. On Tuesday, Parsons told reporters that a return by Week 6 is "very realistic."

Week 6 is when the Packers are scheduled to face Parsons' former team, the Dallas Cowboys.

Parsons also told reporters (h/t The Athletic's Matt Schneidman) that fans should expect to see a motivated and productive version of him once he is ready to return:

Parsons recorded 65 sacks and made four Pro Bowls in his four seasons with Dallas. In 14 games with the Packers last season, he logged 12.5 sacks and 27 quarterback hits.

The Chicago Bears are locking up the anchor of their offensive line.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Chicago and right tackle Darnell Wright have agreed to a four-year, $166 million extension that includes $93 million guaranteed:

Wright, a 2023 first-round pick out of Tennessee, has started all 49 games in which he has appeared with the Bears. He and guard Jonah Jackson will hold down the right side of Caleb Williams' protection in 2026. Things are a little less certain at left tackle, where 2025 starter Ozzy Trapilo is recovering from a torn patellar tendon.

Former starter Braxton Jones and free-agent addition Jedrick Wills Jr. are expected to compete for the left-tackle job in camp.

The Falcons may have been dealt a devastating blow in Tuesday's practice when second-year edge-rusher Jalon Walker went down with an apparent knee injury.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Walker is believed to have suffered a torn ACL:

Walker, a 2025 first-round pick out of Georgia, was limited by hamstring and groin injuries during his rookie training camp. However, he made it onto the field for 15 games with nine starts and finished with 5.5 sacks and 13 quarterback pressures.

If Walker is forced to miss his sophomore campaign, it will be a major setback for Atlanta's defense. He was the first of two pass-rushers the Falcons selected in the first round last year. The other, James Pearce Jr., faces potential league discipline following an offseason arrest and three felony charges.

A lack of reliable receivers has been an issue for the Kansas City Chiefs over the last couple of years. However, Kansas City may have found a new star in rookie fifth-round pick Cyrus Allen.

"Allen ...has emerged as one of the team's top developments in the opening week of training camp. Each day, Allen's snaps with quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the first-team offense have increased—and so have his highlights," ESPN's Nate Taylor wrote on Saturday.

On Tuesday, Chiefs passing game coordinator Joe Bleymaier discussed Allen's impressive start to camp with reporters:

Allen caught 51 passes for 674 yards and 13 touchdowns at the University of Cincinnati last season. He certainly hasn't been a stranger to the highlight reel in training camp.

The Commanders are looking to rebuild a defense that ranked 32nd in yards allowed last season. As part of the rebuilding effort, Washington used the seventh overall pick on Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles.

Styles is widely expected to become the new leader of the Commanders' linebacker group, especially with future Hall of Famer Bobby Wagner still unsigned. So far, Styles has looked like a future star in camp, especially since the team donned pads on Monday.

"His speed and instincts have been fun to watch throughout camp, but it was more apparent with the pads on," Zach Selby of the team's official website wrote on Monday.

Styles went right back to making highlight plays on Tuesday.

With the Buckeyes last season, Styles recorded 82 tackles, a sack, and three passes defended.

Zay Flowers garnered plenty of attention with his blockbuster extension. However, he wasn't the only Ravens receiver who turned a few heads on Tuesday.

Rookie third-round pick Ja'Kobi Lane generated some buzz with an impressive one-handed catch against tight coverage. That catch was far from the only standout play that Lane has had in early camp, and he's beginning to earn the trust of quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Lane caught 45 passes for 745 yards and four touchdowns last season at USC, and he was the first of two receivers drafted by Baltimore in April—taken a round ahead of Indiana's  Elijah Sarratt.

There's a very real chance that Lane will be in the starting lineup alongside Flowers and Rashod Bateman when the Ravens open the regular season against the Colts.

The Green Bay Packers' offensive line will have a new starting five in 2026, as Rasheed Walker and Elgton Jenkins both departed in the offseason. At left tackle, 2024 first-round pick Jordan Morgan is expected to replace Walker.

While Morgan was drafted to eventually take over at left tackle, he hasn't seen much action in that spot to this point. He has shown some promise at guard, however—Pro Football Focus graded him 48th overall among guards in 2025.

Morgan is now beginning to show promise at left tackle in camp.

Morgan has appeared in 23 games with 13 starts for Green Bay, though most of his snaps have come at guard. He primarily played left tackle at Arizona, and he should be starting in that spot when the Packers open the regular season against the Minnesota Vikings.

Teams rarely play their stars and starters in the Hall of Fame Game, which is, in essence, an extra exhibition tacked onto the NFL preseason. However, Arizona Cardinals fans will have a reason to tune in on Thursday night when the Falcons face the Carolina Panthers.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, rookie third-round pick Carson Beck will get the start at quarterback.

While journeyman Jacoby Brissett is expected to be the starter when Arizona opens the regular season, Beck has shown enough promise to suggest that he could eventually take over. On Monday, for example, Johnny Venerable of PHNX Sports reported that Beck was the sharpest of the Cardinals' quarterbacks by the end of practice.

Beck threw for 3,813 yards and 30 touchdowns with the Miami Hurricanes last season while leading Miami to the College Football Playoff Championship—where he faced off against No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza. He'll get his first taste of the NFL against Carolina on Thursday.

Schefter previously reported that Kenny Pickett will start for the Panthers in the HOF Game.

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones was fantastic last season before suffering a season-ending Achilles tear. Despite the injury, Indianapolis committed to Jones with a two-year extension in the offseason, and it's looking like they'll get an early return on their investment.

Jones was cleared to return at the start of camp, and he has reportedly been impressive in practices.

All indications are that Jones will be in pre-injury form when the Colts open the season against the Ravens.

"He looks like he never got hurt," Colts tight end Alie-Cox said over the weekend, per JJ Stankevitz of the team's official website. "He's throwing dimes left and right on the field, getting out the pocket, scrambling and different things like that."

In 13 games before the injury last season, Jones threw for 3,101 yards with a 100.2 QB rating and added 164 rushing yards.

In the wake of Bijan Robinson's extension, Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs is widely expected to be next for a payday. However, he isn't the only running back eyeing a new deal and a significant pay raise.

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor spoke with reporters about Robinson's extension on Tuesday:

According to ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio, a two-year extension could be in the cards for Taylor.

"While it remains to be seen whether, and what, Gibbs gets paid, Taylor's new deal could be coming," Florio wrote on Tuesday. "There's talk that Taylor may end up with a two-year extension."

Taylor is entering the final year of a three-year extension and is set to carry a cap hit of $15.6 million in 2026.

The Cincinnati Bengals didn't make a first-round pick in April's draft because they traded the 10th overall selection to the New York Giants for star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence II.

Lawrence immediately became Cincinnati's marquee offseason addition, and he's regularly stood out in early training camp, as evidenced by this clip from WCPO's Caleb Noe:

Along with Lawrence, the Bengals added Boye Mafe and Jonathan Allen. The impact of their new-look defensive front has been noticeable.

"This is about as grown-man of a team as I've ever been a part of," Bengals center Ted Karras said on Saturday, per The Athletic's Paul Dehner Jr.

The Miami Dolphins took a chance on Louisville receiver Chris Bell in the third round of April's draft, despite his recovery from a 2025 ACL tear, and it could end up being a brilliant move.

Bell was an explosive playmaker in college with an excellent blend of size (6'2", 222 lbs) and speed. Had he been 100 percent healthy, he likely would have been in the first-round conversation.

NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reported shortly before the draft that Bell was ahead of schedule in his recovery. On Tuesday, however, Dolphins offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik said that Bell isn't close to an on-field return, per Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post.

If Bell isn't ready to go by Week 1, he could land on the physically unable to perform list, which would sideline him for the first four games. Whenever he does return, though, he could give Miami an immediate boost.

Before the injury last season, Bell recorded 917 yards and six touchdowns in 11 games.

Shortly before April's draft, the Denver Broncos made a bold trade to add speedy wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. The idea was that the former Miami Dolphins standout had the tools necessary to add a new element to Denver's passing attack.

According to The MMQB's Albert Breer, Waddle has met expectations in early camp:

"Waddle has arrived as advertised. The most noticeable and unique quality he brings to the table from Miami is his combination of elite long speed and sudden stop-and-start ability—which opens up avenues for [offensive coordinator Davis] Webb to be creative with him."

The 27-year-old pass-catcher has regularly flashed in camp practices, and he was at it again on Tuesday, according to The Denver Post's Luca Evans:

In five seasons with the Dolphins, Waddle compiled 5,039 receiving yards and 26 receiving touchdowns.

Wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. was an immediate sensation for the Jacksonville Jaguars as a rookie in 2024. However, he took a significant step backward in 2025, even as the Jaguars became a much more competitive team overall.

After racking up 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns as a rookie Pro Bowler, Thomas had just 707 yards and two touchdowns in Year 2.

Thomas' regression has led to some trade speculation. However, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported on Tuesday that the Jaguars are "confident" that the LSU product will bounce back this season.

"He has looked phenomenal since the spring, and when you watch him live, he's in a different class athletically than his teammates," Fowler wrote.

Parker Washington led the Jaguars with 847 receiving yards last season.

This season, the Philadelphia Eagles will face the difficult task of replacing wideout A.J. Brown in their offense. The good news is that Philly has restocked their receiver room with the likes of Marquise Brown, Dontayvion Wicks, and rookie first-round pick Makai Lemon.

The bad news is that Lemon and No. 1 receiver DeVonta Smith were both out of practice on Tuesday with hamstring injuries, according to The Athletic's Zach Berman.

The Eagles are most likely just playing it safe with Lemon and Smith, as they won't even open their preseason until August 15. They can also use the opportunity to get more reps for receivers like Wicks, who has been building trust with quarterback Jalen Hurts, according to Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers isn't becoming the highest-paid player at his position, but the 2023 first-round pick is cashing in with a lucrative second contract.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Flowers and the Ravens have agreed to a massive four-year, $140 million extension that includes $108 million guaranteed.

Baltimore took Flowers 22nd overall out of Boston College and has watched him steadily grow into a difference-maker. The two-time Pro Bowler had his first 1,000-yard campaign in 2024 and finished last season with 1,211 yards and five touchdowns.

With an annual salary of $35 million, Flowers is now tied with Justin Jefferson in terms of per-season earnings, behind only Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Ja'Marr Chase, and Drake London among receivers.

The New York Jets may not have their quarterback of the future on the current roster. However, they've done an excellent job of setting the table for said signal-caller to be named later.

In the first round of April's draft, the Jets added receiver Omar Cooper Jr. and tight end Kenyon Sadiq to a skill group that already included Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall. Unfortunately, Sadiq is set to miss some time in training camp.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said the Oregon product has suffered "a little setback" during his recovery from offseason sports hernia surgery, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. However, Glenn still believes Sadiq will be ready for Week 1.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are looking to reclaim the NFC South after narrowly missing out on a division title in 2025. They're reportedly still hopeful that they'll chase the playoffs with star defensive tackle Vita Vea.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported in July that the two-time Pro Bowler requested a trade after contract negotiations hit an impasse. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Vea has "zero" intention to play under his current contract or without a change of scenery.

Vea has not been practicing at training camp as he seeks a resolution. However, Fowler also reported that the Bucs are "not worried" about his absence just yet.

"Talk to me in one to two weeks," one person from the team told Fowler.

Camp holdouts and hold-ins often end when players face the prospect of missing game checks. If Vea isn't on the practice field before the start of the regular season, though, it may be time for Tampa to worry.

Wide receiver Stefon Diggs remains one of the biggest names remaining on the free-agent market. The four-time Pro Bowler, who played his high school and college ball in Maryland, may find a home with the Washington Commanders.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Commanders are in the "see-what-we-have" mode at wide receiver and are at least keeping an eye on Diggs, who is interested in joining Washington.

"Washington is monitoring the situation with Diggs, who's intrigued by the chance to play in Washington (he's from the area)," Fowler reported on Tuesday.

Diggs spent last season with the New England Patriots and, despite coming off a 2024 ACL tear, caught 85 passes for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns. He added 110 yards and a touchdown during New England's postseason run to Super Bowl LX.

Robinson isn't the only 2023 draft product who could get a market-setting offer this offseason. Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua has been one of the best at his position when healthy, and he's also eligible for a second contract.

ESPN's Dan Graziano reported on Tuesday that Rams general manager Les Snead was asked about Nacua's contract talks at training camp on Sunday.

"We'll keep that between us," Snead said, though he added that Nacua is "in a great spot."

Nacua was a fifth-round pick in 2023, meaning his contract didn't come with a fifth-year option and will expire after the 2026 season.

In his three campaigns, the 25-year-old has averaged 95.3 receiving yards per game while catching 19 touchdown passes. He had a league-high 129 catches last season.

Bijan Robinson became extension-eligible this offseason, and the Falcons star couldn't have timed his career year any better. Last season, the Texas product racked up a career-best and league-high 2,298 scrimmage yards and 11 touchdowns.

On Tuesday, Atlanta gave Robinson a three-year extension worth up to $75 million, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The deal includes $51 million guaranteed and, according to Spotrac, a base value of $22.25 million annually.

Philadelphia Eagles standout Saquon Barkley previously led the running-back market with a contract worth $20.6 million per season.

Robinson was the eighth overall pick in the 2023 draft. Now that he's been extended, attention turns to Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs, who was selected 12th overall.

Gibbs has compiled 619 fewer scrimmage yards than Robinson over the last three seasons but has produced 15 more combined rushing and receiving touchdowns. It'll be interesting to see if he tops Robinson's deal and by how much.
