DAZN: Roach Jr. vs Zepeda - Live Updates, Results and Highlights

William Zepeda did what he does best on Saturday night in Las Vegas, drowning his highly regarded opponent Lamont Roach Jr. en route to a unanimous decision win that made him the new WBC lightweight champ. 

The Mexican volume-puncher just didn't give his foe a chance to breathe. The fighter who arguably beat Gervonta Davis a little over a year ago simply did not know what to do when he was forced to eat a knuckle sandwich every few seconds. 

"We were ready for every counter, and tonight was our night," he said post-fight. "I want to become undisputed. I don't care who it is or where it is."

In victory, Zepeda (33-1, 27 KOs) is the new WBC lightweight champion. Where he goes from here is to be determined, but not many people believed he'd be the one with his hand raised tonight. 

Roach, meanwhile, will need to return to the drawing board. For all his skill, he has a lot to unpack after his fight with Zepeda. He was badly outboxed in "Sin City."

The judges still have Zepeda ahead after eight rounds. At this point, Roach seemingly needs a finish to win this fight. He's drowning right now. Zepeda is just throwing too much.

William Zependa is in control of this fight, and his patented volume punching is the main factor for his success. Lamont Roach Jr. is firing back, and maybe even landing the harder punches of the fight overall, but he's eating five or ten for every one he's able to land in return, and that's a problem. He's simply being overwhelmed. He's being out-landed, and he's mostly on the back foot. For all his skill, he needs to make something serious happen soon.

Roach started strong in the first two rounds of this fight, but Zepeda came alive in round three, landing with volume but also with power. The Mexican's momentum continued into round four, as he continued to land a lot, and with emphasis. 

Who's ahead after four? Thanks to the magic of open scoring, we don't have to wonder. 

One judge had it 38-38, the other two have Zepeda ahead.

Roach and Zepeda are in the ring, and they've been introduced. They will have 12 rounds to settle this, and as with the co-main event, open scoring will be in effect.

Our main event is up next. This one goes down at lightweight with WBC gold on the line. 

A lot of people thought Lamont Roach Jr. (25-1, 10 KOs) should have won his two recent draws against Gervonta Davis and Isaac Cruz. Whether that's true or not, he has a chance to make a big statement against William Zepeda (33-1, 27 KOs), who will be looking to drown him with volume and shake up the division. The challenger certainly has the skills to do it. 

This one would be fun in a vacuum. The implications of a win for either man make it all the more appealing. 

Ring walks should begin shortly. 

Raymond Muratalla was in complete control of his Saturday-night scrap with Robson Conceicao, leaving the cage with a lopsided unanimous decision win and his IBF lightweight title as a result.

"Not my best, to be honest with you," he said after the fact. "I knew he was fading, and I was trying to finish him off, but he's never been finished before."

The 29-year-old definitely deserves a lot of credit for his win, but it bears mentioning that his opponent was closing in on 39 years old as they stepped into the ring in Vegas. A finish would have been a lot more valuable as the young Californian looks to propel himself into bigger fights, most likely at 140 lbs.

Whatever the case, he's now an impressive 25-0, with 17 KOs to his credit.

After eight rounds, the judges have this one scored 79-73 for Muratalla across the board. The champion is in complete control of this fight, and will win a decision unless his opponent pulls off a miracle.

Open scoring is in effect for tonight's co-main event, so we know exactly where Muratalla and Conceicao stand after four rounds of lightweight action.

It shouldn't surprise anybody, but the judges have the champ Muratalla way ahead. There's little room to argue with them. The Californian has been the aggressor through most of the fight to this point, and he's landing with a lot more impact, more often. 

Frankly, Conceicao seems like he's going to have hard time surviving the remainder of the fight, even if he's never been stopped before.

Up next, we'll move on to the co-main event of the evening in Las Vegas. In one corner, we'll have Californian champ Raymond Muratalla (24-0, 17 KOs) who will be looking to defend the IBF lightweight title. In the other corner is the upset-minded Robson Conceicao of Brazil (21-3, 10 KOs) who, despite Olympic gold medal accolades, is going to have his work cut out for him in the ring tonight at 37 years old.

Both boxers are in the ring. They'll have 12 rounds to work with, and open scoring will be in effect.

Let's get into it.

After 10 rounds, Raul Curiel was awarded a majority decision win over Quinton Randall. Evidently, the judges were swayed by his push in the back half of the fight, during which he spent a lot of time pressing forward, and landed his best punches of the contest.

In victory, Curiel now stands at 18-0 with 14 KOs.

Randall, meanwhile, is now 17-4, but gave a pretty good account of himself in defeat.

Time for our co-main event!

After 10 rounds, Randall and Curiel are headed to the judges' scorecards. Randall clearly had the lead in the early going, but Curiel fought back well in the final rounds. Let's see what the judges thought.

After six rounds, Quinton Randall seems to be ahead in this fight. He's not landing anything particularly hard, but he's landing a lot, while Raul Curiel has been doing a lot of chasing and punching air. Then again, the Mexican prospect has been the one advancing for a lot of the fight, so you never know...

This could still be anyone's fight with three rounds left. One big punch could change everything.

Curiel is obviously the only serious knockout threat in this fight, but Randall has looked good through the first three rounds, keeping his opponent at bay with a quick jab and nice footwork. Curiel is still in the fight, but he needs to find a way to get inside and start landing. So far, he hasn't done much more than chase. 

Tonight's main event fighters are in the building in Las Vegas. We're still a few hours away from their ring walks, but this should be a good one.

The second bout of Saturday's main card on DAZN will be contested at welterweight, with Mexico's Raul Curiel (17-0, 14 KOs) taking on Quinton Randall (17-3, 4 KOs) from Texas. It's clear where the power advantage lies in this one, but "Quick Draw" Randall has proven he knows how to win rounds, and will have height and reach advantages on his side.

Charles "Bad News" Conwell was in total control of his super welterweight clash with Paul Kroll.

The former Olympian was on the front foot and handily out-landing his opponent for the first eight rounds of their fight. In round nine, just when he was starting to deserve some criticism for failing to stop a visibly outmatched opponent, he put an end to things with a body shot and follow-up flurry.

In victory, Conwell is now 22-1 with 17 KOs. More importantly, he's back on track after an early 2025 loss to Jorge Garcia, and one of the longest layoffs of the career.

"I'm back," he said in his post-fight interview. "It's been a long time coming.

"I was trying to find a perfect body shot... I'm excited to be back in the ring."

After two strong rounds, Conwell scored the first knockdown of the fight in round 3, dropping a bloodied Kroll with a left hook. Kroll quickly recovered, and has had his moments, but is looking mostly outmatched in this fight so far.
