2026 NFL Training Camp Live Updates, Rumors and Highlights from Monday

Moe MotonJul 27, 2026

NFL teams have taken the field, and a couple of rookies flashed at practice on Monday.

The Arizona Cardinals saw running back Jeremiyah Love in action with his fancy footwork. The San Francisco 49ers caught a glimpse of their top draft pick, De'Zhaun Stribling, showing off his ball-tracking ability.

In rumblings away from the field, the Washington Commanders have one clear option if they choose to sign a wide receiver before the regular season. An NFL insider weighed in on the team's interest in a couple of notable wideouts.

Check out Monday's training camp highlights and rumors from around the league.

Colts Place WR Alec Pierce on the PUP List

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce isn't ready to take the field. He's still recovering from ankle surgery.

The Colts traded Michael Pittman Jr. to the Pittsburgh Steelers and signed Pierce to a four-year, $114 million extension, which solidifies his status as the team's No. 1 receiver.

Earlier today on The Pat McAfee Show, Daniel Jones said he'll be a full go at training camp, but the Colts signal-caller will wait a little longer to continue building a rapport with Pierce, who hauled in 47 passes for 1,003 yards and six touchdowns last season.

Commanders' Pursuit of WR Brandon Aiyuk 'Went Off the Track'

49ers Aiyuk Football

While talking about the Commanders' interest in Stefon Diggs, ESPN's Adam Schefter also noted that any talks the team had about bringing in Brandon Aiyuk are now "off the track."

Schefter didn't completely dismiss the possibility of Washington signing Aiyuk, but he also said people around the league question if the receiver wants to play.

Furthermore, Aiyuk is on the San Francisco 49ers' reserve/left squad list.

As ESPN's Nick Wagoner noted, Aiyuk must apply to the league for reinstatment before the 49ers can make any moves with him. At this point, he's an unattainable player whose career is in limbo.

On social media, Aiyuk has campaigned to play for Washington, but that doesn't seem likely to happen.

Adam Schefter: Commanders Will Definitely Be In Play for Stefon Diggs

On Sunday, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that "Washington is intriguing" to free-agent wide receiver Stefon Diggs, though at least five teams have checked in on him.

ESPN's Adam Schefter believes that intrigue could be mutual, and it makes the most sense given the Commanders' need at wideout. Diggs, who thinks he's the best No. 2 receiver, would complement Terry McLaurin in Washington's passing attack.

Diggs' ability to line up on the outside and in the slot would allow first-time offensive coordinator David Blough to move him around the formation while featuring McLaurin.

It's not a foregone conclusion that Diggs goes back to an area where he grew up, but it seems that way unless a strong playoff contender aggressively pursues him. Coming off a Super Bowl loss, the 32-year-old may want another shot at a title run before his production goes on a sharp decline.

De'Zhaun Stribling Might Be a Problem for Opposing Defenders

49ers Camp Football

Teams haven't practiced in pads yet. That being said, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver De'Zhaun Stribling showed off his sticky hands and ability to adjust to a high ball that he needed to pluck out of the air.

While Stribling's catch looks smooth and routine, it took great body control and strong hands to haul in that pass.

As noted earlier, wideout Christian Kirk is dealing with a calf strain. Stribling is likely in line for more quality reps. The rookie second-rounder may be in some preseason highlight reels this summer.

Giants Expected to Add Players Ahead of Training Camp

Giants Football

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler and Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 in Houston, the New York Giants worked out a few defensive backs. ESPN's Jordan Raanan believes the team will fill a couple of roster spots.

None of these players are headline names, but it's worth noting that Big Blue is focusing on depth in the secondary.

New Giants defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson is a former defensive backs coach. He might be looking to strengthen an area of his expertise before the team's first practice on Wednesday.

49ers Rookie DL Romello Height Carted Off Because of Cramps

49ers Football

The Athletic's Vic Tafur spotted team trainers working on Romello Height before the team ended practice on Monday.

According to ESPN's Nick Wagoner, Height is dealing with cramps.

Listed at 6'2", 239 pounds on the team's official website, Height isn't a prototypical defensive lineman in size, though he showed the ability to attack off the edge, where the 49ers need depth behind Nick Bosa. Remember, second-year pro Mykel Williams is on the physically unable to perform list, recovering from a torn ACL.

Height could see early playing time in a designated pass-rushing role. He recorded 10 sacks and 11.5 tackles for loss in his final collegiate year at Texas Tech. Fortunately, the rookie third-rounder seems to have avoided a significant injury.

Chiefs CB Mansoor Delane Working His Way Back from Shoulder Injury

Kansas City Chiefs rookie cornerback Mansoor Delane isn't quite ready to fully participate in practice yet. He suffered a shoulder injury during organized team activities in the spring.

Although Delane is still wearing a yellow non-contact jersey, it's a positive sign that he took part in seven-on-seven drills.

This offseason, the Chiefs traded All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams and allowed Jaylen Watson to sign with the same team in free agency. Kansas City moved up from ninth to the sixth spot to draft Delane. He's expected to be a lead cornerback for the team's revamped secondary.

Eagles RB Saquon Barkley Is Ready to Feast

On Monday, Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley posted a workout video on Instagram and wrote the caption, "Year 9. Still Hungry."

In 2024, Barkley almost broke Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson's single-season rushing record, but the team opted to rest him before a successful Super Bowl run. He finished with 2,005 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground.

While most expected Barkley's numbers to drop off last season, he looked less explosive, averaging 4.1 yards per carry compared to 5.8 yards in his first year with the Eagles. Still, the All-Pro tailback racked up 1,413 scrimmage yards and nine touchdowns.

Well, Barkley is re-energized back and for more this year.

Longtime Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland left the team this offseason, which will be a blow to the ground game, but Barkley will run behind a steady front line that returns all five starters. Look for him to be the focal point of Philadelphia's new-look offense following the departure of star wide receiver A.J. Brown.

WR Christian Kirk Among 49ers Who Will Miss Monday's Practice

While going through some drama with Brandon Aiyuk, the San Francisco 49ers revamped their wide receiver room. They signed Mike Evans and Christian Kirk, then selected De'Zhaun Stribling in the second round of the draft.

Evans missed nine games because of injuries last season. Kirk hasn't been able to stay healthy since he played in all 17 games in 2022, missing 18 games over the previous three years.

After one day of practice, Kirk is back on the injury report with a calf strain. He's in a position to play a sizeable role alongside Ricky Pearsall and Evans in three-receiver sets, but while on the sideline, the oft-injured 29-year-old could lose reps to Stribling.

Kirk has finished the last two seasons with fewer than 30 receptions. The 49ers probably aren't relying heavily on his production, which likely explains why they drafted Stribling with their first 2026 pick. Keep in mind that Kirk signed a modest one-year, $3 million deal.

Jeremiyah Love Knows How to Make Defenders Miss

Arizona Cardinals fans should be excited about running back Jeremiyah Love, though offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett told reporters "he's definitely a rookie."

The Cardinals have a crowded backfield that also includes James Conner, free-agent acquisition Tyler Allgeier, Trey Benson, Bam Knight and Corey Kiner. Yet the club selected Love with the No. 3 overall pick in this year's draft.

At some point, Love should emerge as the lead running back in touches with the ability to break free for big gains on the ground and in the short passing game. As you can see, he has the footwork to turn a dead-end play into a decent gain.

In his last two collegiate years as the lead tailback at Notre Dame, Love racked up 3,014 scrimmage yards and 40 touchdowns. Arizona has a new RB1 who can provide an immediate spark to its offense.

Raiders Host Workout with RB Miles Sanders

The Las Vegas Raiders have a lead running back in second-year pro Ashton Jeanty, and they selected Mike Washington Jr. in the fourth round of this year's draft. The duo is slated to be their one-two combo out of the backfield, but the team could add a well-rounded veteran.

Sanders is far removed from his 2022 Pro Bowl season, and he's struggled to stay healthy as of late, missing 19 games over the previous two terms.

Nonetheless, Sanders just turned 29 in May, and his experience as a three-down playmaker could help the development of a young running back room.

Colts QB Daniel Jones Fully Cleared for Training Camp

Daniel Jones tore his Achilles in Week 14 of the previous season. With him on track to practice and suit up for the season opener, the Colts don't have to worry about turning to backup quarterbacks Anthony Richardson Sr. or Leonard Riley. Philip Rivers doesn't need to wait by the phone for another call from general manager Chris Ballard.

Last season, the Colts went 8-5-1 with Jones as their starter, but they lost their last two full games against the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans with him at the helm.

Still, in his first year under head coach Shane Steichen, Jones had one of his best seasons, throwing for 3,101 yards, 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions with a 68 percent completion rate. He'll look to pick up where he left off before the injury.

Patriots HC Mike Vrabel Is 'Cautiously Optimistic' About Gabe Jacas' Return This Year

Patriots Camp Football

This offseason, Patriots rookie second-rounder Gabe Jacas underwent knee surgery and recently signed his contract. According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, the rookie deal includes a rare injury waiver.

Head coach Mike Vrabel didn't make any definitive statements about Jacas' recovery timeline, but he expressed some level of optimism for his availability this year.

With Harold Landry III on the physically unable to perform list, the Patriots are thin at outside linebacker. If the team believes Jacas will miss extended time, it could sign a free-agent pass-rusher. Among the most notable names, Von Miller and Jadeveon Clowney are available.

New England Patriots Dismiss Concerns About WR A.J. Brown's Knee

Patriots Football

On Monday, New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel expressed confidence in A.J. Brown's current health status.

Vrabel's comments align with what Patriots executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf told Yahoo Sports' Jori Epstein. He said the team evaluated Brown's knee and deemed it a non-issue.

"It's a factor, but we examined him," Wolf told Epstein. "He's got a knee that has some wear and tear that we were aware of. Our training staff and medical staff signed off on it."

Over the last two seasons, Brown has missed six games, only sitting out twice last season with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Patriots may implement an offseason management program to keep him fresh for the upcoming season.

Brown is looking to extend his streak of 1,000-plus-yard receiving seasons to five in his first year with the Patriots.
