WWE NXT Live Updates, Results and Highlights From July 14

Lola Vice took over during the break and started the final stretch of the match by hitting Kelani Jordan with repeat Hip Attacks while Booker T cheered.

Kali Armstrong caught Lola for a pin attempt that Lani broke up followed by a double Eat Defeat on both opponents.

Jordan went for the One of a Kind Moonsault, but Vice reversed into a Triangle Choke. Lani turned it into a Jackknife pin that Kali broke up.

A series of pin attempts from all three women ended with a Lani Frog Splash on Vice for a near-fall.

Kali sent Lani out of the ring then hit the Kali Connection on Vice, who fell out of the ring.

Jordan nearly caught Kali with a pin that looked like three. Vice caught Kali with a Back Fist followed by Jordan hitting a One of a Kind Moonsault on Kali.

Vice threw out Jordan and took the pin for the victory.

Winner: Lola Vice to become the new No. 1 contender to the NXT Women's Championship

This was a high-energy main event where all three women were moving so fast that it was hard to tell what could stop the action.

Vice's win sets up Kendal Grey to definitively put down Vice and move onto fresher match-ups for the future.

However, Jordan losing her ninth No. 1 contender match is an alarming stat for someone who is supposed to be amongst NXT's best. Hopefully, there is a story plan for Lani.

The show ended with another next week card rundown until cameras caught Tony D'Angelo and Naraku brawling in the parking lot.

Robert Stone announce the NXT Championship match was now a Street Fight.

Before the main event, Vic Joseph hyped up Roman Reigns and Jalen Brunson both appearing for Saturday Night's Main Event.

NXT showed a pre-taped video of Shawn Spears returning to Full Sail University where he talked up Izzi Dame and Niko Vance's growth before promising to test Niko next week.

Joseph also followed up on his rundown before the commercial break by announcing a rematch next week between Nattie and Jaida Parker.

As the match began, Joseph decried Kelani Jordan's record in No. 1 Contender matches, framing this as another crucial opportunity for her.

Kali Armstrong quickly took over with her power, repeatedly bodyslamming both Lola Vice and Kelani Jordan.

Jordan and Vice found their ways to slip through the grasp of the least experienced competitor, keeping the action moving.

Kali fired back on the floor, laying out both women, as NXT headed into the final picture-in-picture of the night.

Backstage, Saquon Shugars ran into Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno. Romeo and Shugars both convinced Dar that they should team up.

Before heading to the ring, Kali Armstrong found Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair, promising victory. Jaida Parker warned Kali about her attitude. Nattie, Karmen Petrovic and Nikkita Lyons laid out Jaida.

Kelani Jordan and Lola Vice made their entrances before the commercial break.

Shown in a replay, Drake caught Heights with a Springboard Cutter for a near-fall during the break. Heights responded with a Northern Lights Suplex for his own near-fall.

Drake finally found an edge by going after the knee of Heights with an Indian Deathlock and Figure-Four Leglock.

As the action rolled on, NXT showed Lola Vice preparing backstage for the main event.

An Airplane Spin set up Heights to toss Drake into all of Vanity Project on the floor. Brad Baylor got on the apron in response and distracted Heights for a Drake Sunset Flip pin to steal it.

Winner: Jackson Drake

This was a good match that flowed better than the previous match between these two, though the finish felt lazy.

That has become an unfortunate trend with The Vanity Project, who always win by distraction down the stretch, no matter what level of competition that fight.

NXT showed another hype vignette for Reina Volcan that ended with a promise of her debut next week.

In Robert Stone's office, Tony D'Angelo demanded Naraku. Stone agreed to an NXT Championship match next week. The champion promised to get Naraku back before the end of the night.

Tavion Heights oddly came out alone despite Jackson Drake arriving with all of The Vanity Project in his corner.

Heights and Drake fired off on one another early. Drake did his best to avoid the Suplexes of his opponent for a while, including an Ear Clap countered to a Belly-to-Belly.

However, after a quick kickout of a cocky pin attempt by Drake, Heights tossed Drake into the corner with an Exploder Suplex.

Drake fell to the floor where all of The Vanity Project checked on their lead man as NXT went to commercial break.

The two-person brawls continued back from the break, fighting on the apron.

Vic Joseph pulled out the proverb "It is easier to move a mountain than change a person" in referring to Sol Ruca and Zaria's history.

Booker T was impressed until Vic admitted he heard it on Love Island.

Izzi Dame caught Zaria carrying Nikkita Lyons with a Running Knee to set up a near-fall pin on a fallen Lizzy Rain.

Izzi caught Nikkita with another Running Knee. Lizzy stopped the pin, but Izzi hit her with a Chokeslam. Zaria broke up the pinfall attempt.

Zaria caught Nikkita with a Rebound Clothesline then laid out Lizzy with a Fallaway Slam. The champion then caught Izzi with a Spear for a near-fall.

Nattie and Karmen Petrovic arrived to attack Zaria, but Jaida Parker arrived to make the save.

While Jaida brawled with Nattie, Zaria Speared Petrovic then hit Nikkita with a Spear and F5 in the ring to win.

Winner: Zaria to retain the Women's North American Championship

NXT awkwardly transitioned into highlights as Zaria spoke to the camera about her dominance.

This was a great showcase for Zaria, even if there was absolutely no drama. She was the ring general, carrying the action forward.

It would have made more sense based on the finish to just have Nikkita take Layla Diggs' spot in the match, even if that was the weaker match on paper.

Jaida helping Zaria was interesting, even to get to Nattie, as this match heavily blurred the lines on how much Zaria is truly a heel.

Saquon Shugars talked with Wren Sinclair and Kendal Grey about his team-building struggles. Lola Vice interrupted to make clear she was not done with the NXT women's champion.

Backstage, Saquon Shugars continued to seek out tag team partners to fight DarkState. Hank Ledger, Tank Walker and EK Prosper refused to trust him.

KFC sponsored a Pop Meter segment highlighting the crowd reaction to Lizzy Rain's entrance, presenting it as topping the meter even though the live response at the Performance Center sounded more like a decent pop than a huge eruption.

Zaria walked in with confidence despite Robert Stone forcing the women's North American champion into an awkward last-minute Fatal 4-Way.

The champion was also the clearest fan favorite despite her heel status here, helped by two heel challengers in this contest.

Booker T awkwardly waffled between praising Stone's confident decision and questioning why Zaria was defending her gold when her original challenger was hurt.

Everyone threw physical offense at one another to start this contest including a vicious Headbutt from Lizzy to Zaria that Zaria later answered with her own to Lizzy.

The even battle led to all four women standing up in each corner before breaking off into brawls between Lizzy and Nikkita as well as Zaria and Izzi that sent the match into Picture-in-Picture.

Tate Wilder's advantage did not last through the break where Naraku fought back and wore down the high-energy high-flyer.

The former EVIL pushed Wilder to the mat, grinding him down with choke holds. Wilder found a way to fight back, hitting an impressive Slingblade Backbreaker.

However, nothing would slow Naraku for long, who fired back into Enter the Abyss for the victory.

Winner: Naraku

While NXT was replaying the finish, Tony D'Angelo arrived to attack Naraku. The former NJPW star tried to mist the NXT champion again but hit security instead.

While security struggled to contain the brawl, NXT went to break.

Naraku and Wilder do not have much chemistry, leading to a clunky match that never made the young star look like an actual threat to the likely next challenger to the NXT Championship.

The post-match brawl was solid though, selling the chaotic violence of this growing D'Angelo and Naraku feud.

In a pre-tape aired while Tate Wilder headed to the ring, he explained that he was challenging Naraku because he did not fear any challenge.

Naraku quickly brought the physical fight to Wilder, hitting him with strong forearms into the ropes.

The two brawled to the outside of the ring where Wilder managed to turn the tide with a strong kick off the apron to send the match into Picture-in-Picture.

OTM confronted Saquon Shugars backstage, clearly refusing to help him with DarkState.

Lucien Price and Bronco Nima then got in the faces of BirthRight where Lexis King tried to push Price to question Nima's intentions in AAA.

Tristan Angels mocked Shiloh Hill, calling him a "creepy, hillbilly weirdo" while holding his stolen tooth. He then crushed the tooth under his shoe.

Hill appeared on the titantron and told Angels with a deranged laugh that "the fog is coming," a cryptic warning that left his true intentions unclear.

In Robert Stone's office, Nattie argued for Nikkita Lyons to get the shot at Zaria while Izzi Dame and Lizzy Rain argued their cases. Stone agreed to a Fatal 4-Way for the title later.

Once again, the NXT general manager came off as easily swayed by whoever argues the loudest.

The Vanity Project took over during PIP, isolating Sean Legacy.

Legacy eventually got the hot tag to Dorian Van Dux, who rolled over both men and almost picked up the pinfall off a Springboard Moonsault on Brad Baylor.

The Vanity Project tried another double team, but DVD threw Baylor into Smokes to set up a Superplex into a Splash and Springboard 450 for a near-fall broken up by Baylor.

Smokes tried to steal the win with a handful of tights. Legacy and Dux shifted the pace and dived onto the champions outside.

Jackson Drake distracted the referee while Myka Lockwood tripped DVD over the top rope followed by the combination Diving Foot Stomp and Reverse DDT for the victory.

Winners: Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes to retain the NXT Tag Team Championships

This was a great opening contest driven especially by the unreal athleticism of the challengers.

It was somewhat surprising to see Legacy and DVD lose by the end because they have completely locked in as a team, but NXT is clearly committed to Vanity Project.

In the locker room, Myles Borne and Tavion Heights talked about ruining Vanity Project's night. Kam Hendrix arrived to mock Borne and promise a future title challenge.

After previewing the night, The Vanity Project arrived to start the show announced by special announcer for the night, Lilian Garcia.

Sean Legacy and Ricky Smokes started the action where Legacy overwhelmed Smokes with his grappling prowess, teasing early pin attempts to take the win.

Smokes tagged in Brad Baylor, who struggled against a fresh Dorian Van Dux as well as the quick tags of the challengers.

Legacy almost caught Smokes for three with a Snap Kick into a Standing Moonsault.

DVD gave Legacy wild air off an apron Slingshot Crossbody onto both champions to send the match to Picture-in-Picture.

Last week, Layla Diggs earned a one-on-one shot against Zaria for the Women's North American Championship.

However, Robert Stone announced that Diggs was not cleared to compete for the night, so Zaria awaits an unnamed opponent for her title.
