WWE Raw Live Updates, Results and Highlights From July 6

Punk celebrated in front of a happy Chicago crowd as Zayn rolled out of the ring. The former champion sat at ringside looking dejected as Punk blew a kiss to the camera and went into the crowd just like he did 15 years ago when he won at Money in the Bank.

Raw ended with The Second City Savior posing among a bunch of fans chanting his name.

Punk was controlling the pace and looking to hit his signature bulldog, but Zayn countered into a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near-fall.

Punk rebounded and hit a Macho Man elbow drop for a two-count before locking in the Anaconda Vise. Zayn used his legs to break the hold, and he managed to avoid a Sharpshooter attempt and a GTS.

Zayn shocked Punk by hitting his own GTS, but it didn't get him the win. Punk tried to hit a Helluva Kick, but Zayn countered and hit another GTS followed by a Blue Thunder Bomb for a very close two-count.

After some chops and trash talking, Punk started to fight back. Zayn almost hit the Helluva Kick, but missed. Punk hit the Helluva Kick followed by the GTS to get the win and become the new WWE champion.

WINNER: CM PUNK

We returned to see that Zayn had gained the upper hand during the break. He was using a more methodical pace and taking his time. Punk hit a spinning neckbreaker for a two-count as he started to make a comeback.

Punk hit a superplex to send us into another break, which seemed to happen quicker than usual.

Commercial Break

Zayn didn't look intimidated and got right in Punk's face when he got in the ring. Punk left the ring to give his shirt to a kid at ringside before heading back in to begin the match.

They locked up and Punk hit a shoulder tackle to get the first takedown. Zayn hit a chop to the chest that seemed to surprise Punk a bit.

The Straight-Edge Superstar had Zayn in the corner, but the champion tripped him on the ropes and knocked him off the apron. Punk pulled him out of the ring so he could hit a suicide dive.

Commercial Break

Zayn came out to defend his WWE title, which he won just over a week ago at Night of Champions. The announcers kept trying to act like nobody had any idea who he would be facing.

When Punk appeared backstage, the crowd popped, but it's unlikely a single person in that arena was surprised by this decision.

Nick Aldis informed Adam Pearce that he had found a replacement for Cody Rhodes in the main event, and he is already in the building. The crowd could be heard chanting for CM Punk in the background.

LA Knight found Jimmy Uso in the parking lot and was going to fight him, but Jacob Fatu took him out before he had a chance.

We also got a video package for the feud between Bayley and Lyra Valkyria.

We returned to see Rusev back in control and hitting clothesline after clothesline. Gable fought back and tried to make a desperate tag. He planted Rusev with a DDT and both men tagged in their partners.

Lee came in hot and hit a flurry of kicks to Rusev and Page. He had All Ego reeling after a tornado DDT, and he followed up with a double stomp that almost won the match.

Gable saved his partner from a double suplex, but Rusev hit him with a big kick to the head. Lee managed to build some momentum, but Rusev caught him coming off the top rope and hit a urinagi.

He locked in the Accolade and Lee had no choice but to tap out. Rusev didn't release the hold, so Gable grabbed him and pulled him off of Lee.

WINNERS: PAGE AND RUSEV

Joe Hendry ran down to make the save when Rusev had Gable in the Accolade. Hendry hit a few moves, but Rusev and Page eventually got the upper hand.

It took several officials to force Rusev to release Hendry from the Accolade.

Gable teamed up with Dragon Lee to take on Rusev and Ethan Page. This came about after they had a standoff backstage earlier in the show.

All Ego and The Bulgarian Brute attacked their opponents as soon as they got to the ring. They got rid of Gable and isolated Lee in their corner. Page nailed him with a kick to the face and tagged in Rusev to keep up the assault.

The powerhouse hit a couple of easy suplexes. Lee finally managed to tag Gable, and the two took out their opponents with a series of fast-paced moves. Gable launched Lee out of the ring onto Rusev and Page as we went to a break.

Commercial Break

Sami Zayn was informed backstage that Cody Rhodes is unable to compete tonight in their title match, and he got a huge smile on his face.

Adam Pearce walked up and said there is still going to be a title match tonight, and he reminded him that they are in Chicago, which seemed to imply he will be facing CM Punk.

Back in the arena, Chad Gable made his way to the ring for a tag match.

WWE aired a video recapping the Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar feud, and also plugged the new season of WWE Unreal that drops soon.

Back in the arena, Heyman was in the ring. He said he is out there to talk about Femi. The crowd chanted for The Ruler as he talked about Femi thinking he runs WWE, but he doesn't.

As he prepared to leave, Femi's music hit. Heyman made sure to give him plenty of space when he got into the ring.

Heyman said he is valuable because he prevents people from making dumb mistakes, and that is exactly what Femi did when he got on Lesnar's bad side.

He warned Oba about the dangers of going into Hell in a Cell against The Beast. Heyman did his usual song and dance to put over his client, and Femi said Lesnar showing up to attack him proves that every word he said got under his skin.

Femi said Heyman is there because he's scared Femi is going to take out his meal ticket. He promised to defeat Lesnar and close the book on this feud once and for all.

We returned to see Ruca start to mount some offense. She hit a springboard crossbody for a quick two-count.

Rodriguez was struggling and Ruca nailed her with a running knee to the face, but it still wasn't enough to keep the powerhouse down. Roxanne Perez showed up to show Raquel support as she started building momentum.

Sol sent her into the middle turnbuckle. Perez distracted the ref while Liv Morgan prevented her from hitting the Sol Snatcher. Rodriguez capitalized and hit a slam, but it only got a two-count.

Iyo Sky's music hit, but she surprised Roxanne from the crowd. She took out both Perez and Morgan with a moonsault from the apron. Ruca hit the Sol Snatcher for the pin and the win.

WINNER: SOL RUCA

Rusev and Ethan Page had a backstage segment with Chad Gable, Penta and Dragon Lee. Back in the ring, the IC title match got started.

Rodriguez backed Ruca to the corner, but she made a clean break. They locked up again, and Rodriguez easily overpowered her again. Ruca attempted a side headlock takeover, but Raquel was too strong for her.

Rodriguez was firmly in control when she put Ruca in the corner and hit a series of elbow strikes. Sol countered a powerslam and sent the challenger over the top rope to the floor.

Raquel avoided a moonsault, but Ruca recovered and hit a kick from the apron, followed by a beautiful corkscrew crossbody to take her down. When they got back to the ring, Rodriguez leveled her with a clothesline.

Commercial Break

Heyman still didn't seem satisfied with how The Vision won. Otis and Akira Tozawa watched Maxxine drive away with Theory. They looked surprised and sad.

Back in the arena, Sol Ruca came out to defend her IC title against Raquel Rodriguez.

We returned to see Ford hitting a series of moves on Breakker that led to a really nice crossbody from the top rope for a two-count. Theory came in, but he was immediately hit with a Doomsday Blockbuster.

Breakker barely managed to break up the pin. He tossed Ford out of the ring with authority. Logan Paul very stupidly tried to give Theory his brass knuckles right in front of the referee.

It turned out to be a fakeout and he slid Breakker a different set while the official was distracted. Dawkins managed to avoid the hit, and Ford took Breakker out.

Dawkins ended up with the brass knuckles, but Maxxine Dupri showed up and hit him with a low blow, which allowed Theory to get the pin and regain the tag titles.

WINNERS: THE VISION WON THE TAG TITLES

It looks like Maxxine's heel turn is complete. She jumped into Theory's arms and kissed him as they celebrated the victory.

Nick Aldis and Adam Pearce had a tense backstage segment involving Gunther before the action got started.

The first match of the night saw Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins defend the tag titles against the former champions, Bron Breakker and Austin Theory. Paul Heyman told Theory and Breakker to win the titles, or he is done with them.

As soon as the match started, Breakker scooped up Ford and brought him to the corner so he and Theory could double-team him. Tez recovered and hit a dropkick to take control. Dawkins tagged in, but he was backed to the corner and Breakker tagged in to beat him down.

Dawk nailed him with a nice dropkick, but Bron came back with a huge running clothesline as the show went to a break.

Rollins pointed out some kids in the crowd and said he used to be one of them when he was a kid, watching and hoping to main event WrestleMania someday.

He spoke about his history with Reigns and how different their paths have been. He said Reigns is in this for the money, while he is in it for the love of the game.

He was cut off mid-sentence by LA Knight's entrance music. He said he is tired of the same old trash with Rollins and Reigns. He talked about how Rollins has done nothing to earn a title shot and he is tired of seeing people jump the line.

Seth said he may not like Knight, but he respects him because he works hard, but it's not his time yet. He told Knight he would put him down if he got in his way before leaving the ring.

Jimmy Uso attacked Knight from behind to end the segment.

Rollins was in a good mood and got the crowd hyped. They started chanting for CM Punk, and Rollins said he gets it because he is from Chicago, but he couldn't care less about him.

He said his main concern is winning the world title at SummerSlam by beating Roman Reigns. He mocked The OTC for being a part-timer who didn't think it was worth showing up for the show this week.

Seth did a little revisionist history and talked about how Reigns was always meant to be the main guy in The Shield, even though he was mostly a silent enforcer in the early days of the group. It was the fans cheering so much for him that turned him into the leader.

Raw in Chicago has officially begun! Shots of various people walking backstage started the show, as usual. Michael Cole ran down the card for the night.

Sami Zayn arrived in a convertible and had a confrontation with Cody Rhodes backstage. After Zayn walked away, Gunther attacked Rhodes out of nowhere and powerbombed him through a table.

He told Zayn that Cody isn't his problem anymore because he is coming for the belt. It looked like they might have put some fake blood on Rhodes to sell the attack. It was too bright a shade of red to be real. When we went to the arena, Seth Rollins came out to start the show.
