Paxley vs. Jordan - Part 2

During the break, Kali Armstrong Pounced Kendal Grey out of her announce table chair, delivering the expected result of Mr. Stone telling her to speak with her actions earlier.

Tatum Paxley and Kelani Jordan fought back and forth. Paxley caught Jordan with a Rebound Suplex and Sit-Out Spinebuster into a unique submission, teasing bending Jordan in half.

Jordan teased a One of a Kind Moonsault followed by Paxley teasing the Cemetery Drive, but neither could connect.

Jordan ducked a Spin Kick from Paxley that led to her ankle colliding with the turnbuckle. The injury left Paxley vulnerable for a One of a Kind to seal the victory.

Winner: Kelani Jordan

Each time Paxley has performed in the past few weeks, it has felt like the beginning of the end for her NXT run. This may have been it.

She and Jordan worked well together, but this was clearly a match focused on highlighting Jordan as a threat to Grey in the near-future.

As Jordan and Paxley stared each other down, the former Nikki Blackheart attacked and laid out Paxley to stand tall.

The show ended with an NXT classic where Vic Joseph refused to say her new name, just stating "we all know who this woman is" and promising she would not be stopped.

While she has an impressive look and should do well in NXT, these awkward introductions without a clear name for stars are more confusing than effective.

Tatum Paxley vs. Kelani Jordan

Before and during the main event, Vic Joseph confirmed four matches for next week's NXT:

  • No. 1 Contender for NXT Tag Team Championships: BirthRight vs. OTM vs. Sean Legacy and Dorian Van Dux vs. DarkState.
  • No. 1 Contender for Women's North American Championship: Izzi Dame vs. Lizzy Rain vs. Thea Hail vs. Layla Diggs.
  • NXT Women's Championship: Kendal Grey (c) vs. Nattie.
  • Shiloh Hill vs. Niko Vance.

Kelani Jordan took over the action to start this match, but Tatum Paxley laughed at the pain she was feeling.

Kendal Grey talked up her respect for Paxley as well as her distant respect for Nattie, who she grew up watching on Total Divas.

Paxley fired back against Jordan as they battled outside and Paxley caught Jordan upside on the apron with a Superkick into the PIP break.

Naraku Attacks Tony D'Angelo

Tony D'Angelo, looking extra orange for the night, headed to the ring to talk about what he went through last week after Naraku's fireball.

He confidently declared that no one was ready to step up to him because he was the "Master of My Fate, Captain of My Soul", quoting William Ernest Henley's poem "Invictus".

He promised that no one was willing to wade in the same deep waters as him and take the NXT Championship.

Kendal Grey arrived to prepare to join commentary for the main event, but Naraku attacked D'Angelo, using red mist and a steel chair to lay out the NXT champion.

This was an odd follow-up to a fairly one-sided result at Great American Bash, but the presentation was strong, selling the shock when Naraku did attack.

Niko Vance and Shiloh Hill Butt Heads/Myles Borne and Tavion Heights Reconcile

Backstage, Tatum Paxley and Shiloh Hill talked about their failures and successes at Great American Bash.

Niko Vance mocked Paxley when she left, and Hill told him to back off his friend.

Sean Legacy finally found Dorian Van Dux in the men's locker room where they talked excitedly about the No. 1 contender match next week.

In the lounge, Wren Sinclair and Myles Borne talked up their wins before Tavion Heights arrived. Heights and Borne agreed that friends have each other's back no matter what despite recent arguments.

Jaida Parker vs. Karmen Petrovic (w/ Nattie, Nikkita Lyons and Layla Diggs)

Nattie and her crew interrupted Mr. Stone and Kendal Grey, and The Low-Key Legend made her case for NXT Women's Championship opportunity.

Ms. Parker made her entrance before the commercial break to a loud supportive crowd.

Nattie, Nikkita Lyons and a somewhat reluctant Layla Diggs walked out with Karmen Petrovic to fully showcase this new stable.

Petrovic started confident in her return to NXT action, but Ms. Parker laid her out early including a Teardrop that sent Petrovic to the floor.

Petrovic lured Jaida to the apron and stomped her head into the frame of apron to turn the tide.

While she dominated the action with kicks for a couple minutes, the power of Ms. Parker allowed her to transition into a Rings of Saturn.

Jaida dived onto Petrovic, but Lyons and Nattie took cheap shots at Ms. Parker when the referee's back was turned. Diggs refused to hit her.

Because of Diggs' hesitation, Jaida slipped back into the ring where she hit Hipnotic and a Chokebomb for the victory.

Winner: Jaida Parker

It was nice to see Petrovic back in the ring. It was clear though that this was only ever going to go one way.

Jaida was portrayed as completely dominant when Petrovic did not have excessive help at ringside, starting her journey to a rematch with Nattie.

The most interesting element of this angle right now is Diggs' reluctance to play Nattie's game, which could lead to Ms. Parker finding a new ally soon.

Prosper vs. Carver - Part 2

Keanu Carver took back over during the break, especially after a brutal pair of Release German Suplexes.

EK Prosper tried to kick his way back into the contest, but Carver laid him out with a Clothesline and Biel Throw.

Booker T and Vic Joseph argued over Carver's methods. Oddly, this time, it was Booker saying that Carver deserved a title shot.

A Springboard Moonsault into a Standing Leg Drop and Spin Kick sent Carver to the floor, but Carver caught Prosper diving and threw him onto the announce table.

Tank Ledger arrived to toss Carver through the NXT LED screen. Carver barely made it back into the ring but ran into a Running Knee followed by a Moonsault for another victory by Prosper.

Winner: EK Prosper

Vic Joseph sold this as a shocking upset while underselling the effect of Tank's interference.

This was another memorable match between Carver and Prosper, who continue to build their dynamic as rivals.

Carver costing Prosper his title opportunity only to fail in this rematch should fuel this rivalry to the next level of intensity.

EK Prosper vs. Keanu Carver

EK Prosper talked with Tate Wilder backstage about the change to his match, admitting he had not prepared for a rematch with Keanu Carver.

In Mr. Stone's office, Kali Amstrong wanted a shot at Kendal Grey, but Stone told her to speak with her actions not her words.

Booker T called out Carver's bad behavior right from the start of the match, saying he should not be rewarded with a match with Prosper after what he did.

This rematch started like the first battle between these two men as Carver's power wore down Prosper.

However, Prosper found a way to send Carver to the floor and dived onto the big man followed by a Tornado DDT off the apron.

Back in the ring, Carver hit a high Frog Splash for the first near-fall just before the Picture-in-Picture break.

Drake vs. Rook - Part 2

The action picked up big time out of the commercial break with a series of high-impact moves with the crowd chanting "This is Awesome!" down the stretch.

Drake survived the Corner Death Valley Driver and almost sealed the win with an impressive Springboard Double Foot Stomp.

Rook caught Drake with a Swinging Side Slam for a near-fall. Drake connected on a DDT for a near-fall, which seemed to demorialize The Vanity Project leader.

Rook again kicked out of a Code Red then popped up out of a Poisonrana into a Sit-Out Powerbomb for a wild near-fall.

The Vanity Project distracted Rook followed by a Backstabber from Drake. Myka Lockwood held down Rook's leg on the pin for the victory.

Winner: Jackson Drake

Afterward, Rook angrily laid out Ricky Smokes with a Corner Death Valley Driver into Brad Baylor before staring down a terrified Drake.

The near-falls went a bit overboard down the stretch, but there is no doubt that these two are amongst the best athletes in NXT right now.

This was an engaging battle with an unpredictable finish that showed Drake might be close to earning himself a world title opportunity before long.

Jackson Drake vs. Mason Rook

The Vanity Project stayed in the ring through the break, celebrating until Mason Rook arrived. The crowd remains consistent with Rook's chant for his entrance.

Drake tried to annoy Rook to start off the action, which only motivated Rook to hit him harder.

Kam Hendrix called Booker T as Rook started to dominate, and the call somehow could be heard over the speakers. Hendrix promised his fans that he would be back real soon.

Rook laid in a Senton on Drake, and The Vanity Project leader retreated outside to regroup into the commercial break.

NXT Tag Team Championship Match - Part 2

The power of Galeno was on full display after the commercial where he knocked around both Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes with ease.

Jackson Drake and Myka Lockwood mostly stayed out of the action but did provide a key distraction late.

A double-team Elevated Splash from the luchador brothers almost sealed the win, but Wagner's ribs could not take the impact, leaving him vulnerable.

An Inverted DDT/Double Foot Stomp team combo sealed the retention for The Vanity Project.

Winner: The Vanity Project retain the NXT Tag Team Championships

This was a fun match that heavily relied on the athleticism of the challengers. Even Booker T was quickly gaining respect for both luchadors.

The ending was a bit awkward as commentary seemed confused whether Wagner was actually hurt or not, but it was the right choice to keep the gold on Baylor and Smokes for now.

Backstage, BirthRight's Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo and Uriah Connors, OTM, Sean Legacy (without Dorian Van Dux) and DarkState's Osiris Griffin and Cutler James all asked for a title shot.

Mr. Stone announce a No. 1 contender Fatal 4-Way tag for next week. Romeo Moreno and Noam Dar arrived late to ask for their own shot, but Stone told them to get some wins first.

NXT Tag Team Championships: The Vanity Project (c) vs. El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno

El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno came out to the delightful vibe of Wagner's "El Mariachi Rockero" while The Vanity Project danced together the rave beat of "Jumping Strays".

The commentary and even the marketing for this match stated Wagner's name incorrectly multiple times, missing that he is the son of the legend Dr. Wagner Jr.

The dance became a fight quickly with the luchador brother taking over the action.

Wagner went after The Vanity Project, flipping onto both Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes on the floor into the commercial break.

Keanu Carver Attacks El Hijo del Vikingo/Title Match Cancelled

Keanu Carver attacked El Hijo del Vikingo backstage, causing Robert Stone to announce the AAA Latin American Championship match was off.

Stone advised Carver that he would face EK Prosper in a rematch tonight while also advising a complaining Kelani Jordan that she could fight Tatum Paxley in the main event.

Near the women's locker room, Izzi Dame questioned how she was holding no gold. Zaria warned Dame to not go after her gold.

Lizzy Rain interrupted the conversation as she rocked out to her theme in the locker room.

Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair Celebrate with Cake

Live coverage started with Grey heading to the ring. Wren Sinclair told the champion to take her moment alone in the ring, embracing the crowd's ovation.

She apologized to the crowd that she has never been comfortable on the mic, honestly more nervous about talking than fighting in the main event on Sunday.

The NXT women's champion talked about her struggles with her own self worth, promising though that she always found her confidence by fighting.

She laid down a challenge to the rest of the roster to step up to her and try to reach her level in the ring.

Sinclair arrived with a surprise two-layer cake to celebrate the champion's victory.

Kelani Jordan interrupted to question the joy of WrenQCC, only to be surprised by Tatum Paxley, popping out of the audience.

The champions ate cake in the ring as Jordan and Paxley brawled to the back once again.

It was a slight surprise that no one got their face thrown into cake, but this was a good change of pace from the recent in-ring promo segment for Grey.

She got time to speak for herself, and the interruption of Jordan was shifted into a separate rivalry that can continue to keep two of NXT's most main-roster ready stars busy.

Great American Bash Recap

WWE NXT opened with a recap of Great American Bash, highlighting the action between all of the top stars.

It ended with a heavy focus on the fantastic main event where Kendal Grey successfully dethroned Lola Vice as NXT women's champion.

Vic Joseph announced that Booker T was back with him on commentary.
