After Williams failed to convert a double set point at 5-4 in the first set, the 23-year-old took over the match, reeling off nine straight games for the win. The victory is Muguruza's second Grand Slam title after she won the French Open in 2016. After reaching the final, Venus fell just short of becoming the oldest woman ever to win a Grand Slam singles title, at the age of 37.
