Germaine de Randamie Becomes First-Ever Featherweight Champion at UFC 208: Live Updates, Highlights and Reaction

UFC 208 emanated from Brooklyn with a brand new championship up for grabs. It was a back-and-forth battle not without its controversies, but Germaine de Randamie upended Holly Holm for the inaugural UFC women's featherweight title. In the co-main event, Anderson Silva picked up a decision victory Derek Brunson. It was a questionable decision as well, but nevertheless "The Spider" gets his first win since 2012. Given his stature in the sport, he may be close to a title shot. All 10 fights went to a decision at the Barclays Center. Take a look and recap all the action from UFC 208.

    Round 5 Holm has been the aggressor in these later rounds. Outside leg kick from the former champion. A straight left buckles de Randamie! But she was coming in and they clinch. If there was more space this fight may be over!

    Inside elbow from Holm. Holm doing very well in the clinch against the fence. She has out-muscled de Randamie all fight there. The referee breaks them up. Less than two minutes remaining. They clinch and the fans boo. de Randamie lands a knee to the body.

    de Randamie is desperate to be separated right now. Now Holm breaks. They both score in a brief exchange to close the fight.

    Round 4 Holm closes the distance and puts de Randamie on the fence. She grabs a single. Holm not able to score much offense, but this position continually makes de Randamie work. The referee breaks them up.

    Holm clips de Randamie with a straight left. Nice leg kick from de Randamie. Holm again moves her to the fence. Holm needs to use her legs to tie-up and trip de Randamie instead of dropping for the single. Knee inside from Holm. She attempted to trip de Randamie that time, but didn't full commit to it.

    They break and the round ends.

    Holm looks OK, but she hasn't been hit yet. Outside leg kick from Holm. 90 seconds pass without much offense landing. de Randamie lands a leg kick of her own. Holm slips the counter and lands a punch of her own. Holm reaches for that clinch or takedown attempt. de Randamie easily defends that attempt.

    Nice body kick from de Randamie. They exchange side kicks to the legs. Holm clinches and puts de Randamie against the fence. She tries to drag de Randamie to the mat, but it doesn't work. de Randamie lands a right on the break.

    Head kick from Holm nearly drops de Randamie! de Randamie is late again after the bell and the referee still refuses to take a point. Wow!

    Round 2 Holm lands the outside leg kick again. de Randamie just misses a counter right hand. de Randamie lands a different counter right. Sidekick to the thigh from Holm. The counter-right from de Randamie is powerful.

    Holm shows another takedown. She doesn't get it, but it forces de Randamie to account for the style. de Randamie is defending against the cage, but this is keeping her from striking. It also forces her to defend and work. de Randamie switches the position and starts throwing knees. Holm recovers position.

    Excellent knee up the center from de Randamie. Holm slips to de Randamie's back, but she gets her back flat against the cage.

    Holm gets clocked after the bell and she wobbled. Oh wow!

    Both women are testing their striking early. They have to find their range and timing. Holm putting together more combinations than de Randamie. Outside leg kick lands from Holm. de Randamie lands one to the inside. Nice right over the top from de Randamie.

    Holm is too far on the outside. Another right from de Randamie lands. That one came straight down the pipe. de Randamie stings Holm entering. Big power shot from de Randamie. Holm needs to threaten with a takedown. This could get out of hand quickly if she only kickboxes.

    Straight right from de Randamie is on point. Now Holm attempts a takedown. She fails, but she pushes de Randamie against the fence. Holm switches to the single, and de Randamie defends.

    Derek Brunson is not happy. Not happy at all. And he has a right to be. It was a questionable decision with the 30-27 scorecard being atrocious. The good news for Brunson is that fans, and the UFC, will remember his performance. He won't take a huge step backward.

    Cannonier manages to get to half-guard, but the fight is quickly nearing its end. Teixeira lands a good elbow. This is a workmanlike performance from Teixeira, but there's nothing that has been shown to suggest he's a title threat. This fight only highlighted Cannonier's shortcomings. The light heavyweight division is a dumpster fire.

    Round 3 Miller lands early in the third. He's not out of the fight. A leg kick drops Poirier. Clean right from Poirier, but the power isn't there with the lead leg deadened by leg kicks. Poirier's leg is a mess.

    Poirier catches a leg and puts Miller on his back. That was big for Poirier. Miller grabs the neck, but can't get back up. There is some ground and pound, but not much. He's defending Miller's active guard. Miller is up.

    Miller tried to hop over onto Poirier's back and failed. Now he's back on the mat. Miller attacks with a kimura. He's not in a position to finish. Big comeback from Miller in the third.
