A Sad End to a Great Show.
Ciampa watches from the announce table as several doctors check on Gargano as the show goes off the air. What a way to end TakeOver: Chicago. They were a great team, but anyone who saw their match during the CWC knows their feud is going to be epic.
As the show is about to go off the air, Ciampa attacks his partner and sends him into the LED wall. He pulls down his knee pad and hits the running knee to the man he once called his brother. Gargano looks at him through glossy eyes as Ciampa stares at him blankly. He picks up Johnny and puts him on the announce table. He picks up Gargano and brings him off the announce table through a few other tables that were set up near the stage in what might be the craziest spot of the night.

This Feels Like Goodbye
Gargano and Ciampa embrace in the ring while the crowd gives them a standing ovation. This almost feels like WWE giving them a sendoff before they are brought up to the main roster.
The Authors of Pain vs. DIY (Tag Titles) Part 5
Akam ends up on his knees with a ladder around his neck, so DIY hit their finisher to take him out once and for all. Gargano and Ciampa climb the ladder and get their hands on the belts, but Akam and Rezar kick the ladder out from under them and bring them down for the Supercollider. The AOP climb the ladder and bring down the belts to retain. Great match, but it would have been nice to see DIY get the win to end the show on a high note.
The Authors of Pain vs. DIY (Tag Titles) Part 4
Johnny Wrestling ends up alone on top of the ladder after everyone else gets knocked off. Paul Ellering comes in and pulls him down, which gets him a superkick in the face for his troubles. Akam knocks Gargano out of the ring while Rezar grabs another ladder. They set it up in the corner and beat the stuffing out of Ciampa. Gargano saves Ciampa from being hit with the ladder by shoving him out of the way, but he ends up taking the hit instead. Ciampa brings Rezar off the ladder with a German suplex, breaking the ladder they set up in the corner. Akam climbs the remaining ladder, but Gargano grabs his foot.
The Authors of Pain vs. DIY (Tag Titles) Part 3
Akam and Rezar run Gargano and Ciampa down with a ladder, sending them out of the ring in the process. The champs get another ladder from under the ring while a few officials check on DIY. Gargano superkicks Akam on the apron, but he doesn't go down. AOP each end up on ladders that are suspended like bridges between the ring and barricade. Gargano and Ciampa climb a ladder in between the other two and they each hit a splash on their respective target. All four men slowly get back in the ring and start climbing the leftover ladders.
The Authors of Pain vs. DIY (Tag Titles) Part 2
Akam and Rezar stop them from setting up a ladder. Gargano is slammed onto Ciampa to take both men out at the same time. The challengers are able to hit both men with a ladder at the same time. Ciampa almost gets to the titles while Rezar is holding the ladder, but he falls short. The AOP climb both sides of a ladder at once, but they are pulled down. They end up sending DIY crashing down into the top rope from the ladder to keep the upper hand.
It's Main Event Time
The Authors of Pain are out first for the tag title Ladder match.
Bobby Roode vs. Hideo Itami (NXT Championship) Part 4

He tries to hit the Glorious DDT, but his arm is too injured. He hands Itami up on the top rope after avoiding a GTS. He pulls Itami out of the ring and throws him into the barricade. Roode gets sent into the steps, but he avoids a running kick and both men go down in pain.
Bobby Roode vs. Hideo Itami (NXT Championship) Part 2
Roode gets the upper hand and stomps his rival into the mat. He runs Itami from corner to corner while hitting clotheslines. He follows up with a neckbreaker for a two count. Itami tries to make a comeback, but a knee to the gut stops his momentum. Itami and Roode exchange some shots in the middle of the ring, with Itami getting the last shot to knock Roode down.
Bobby Roode vs. Hideo Itami (NXT Championship) Part 1
They lock up and Roode powers Itami to the ropes. He makes a clean break, but mocks his opponent at the same time. Itami goes for the GTS, but Roode escapes the ring. Roode hits a running shoulder, but Hideo responds with a back elbow. The challenger maintains control, but he misses a kick to the head and laughs about it. Roode gets angry, but Hideo keeps him on the defensive with strikes in the corner.
The Tag Teams Are Closing the Show
The NXT title match is next, which means the tag team ladder match will main event the show. Bobby Roode gets a special intro to his entrance.
Asuka vs. Ruby Riot vs. Nikki Cross (NXT Women's Title) Part 4
Nikki drags Asuka to the corner and sits her on the top rope for a hanging neckbreaker. Riot breaks up the pin at the last second. Riot and Cross take each other out with cross body blocks. Nikki and Ruby take out Asuka together before going after each other. Riot knocks out Cross before Asuka hits her with a running knee. She covers both women to get the pin and retain her title. Good match, but the ending seemed off.
Asuka vs. Ruby Riot vs. Nikki Cross (NXT Women's Title) Part 3
Riot nails Asuka with a suicide dive. She follows up with a flying senton to Cross, but Asuka breaks it up and hits Ruby with a German suplex for her own near fall. Riot and Asuka team up for a split second to take out Cross, but then Ruby hits Asuka with a kick to the face to break up the alliance. Asuka avoids a senton and puts Riot in the Asukalock. Cross breaks it up with a splash. Nikki traps Asuka with the apron so she can unload on her.
Asuka vs. Ruby Riot vs. Nikki Cross (NXT Women's Title) Part 2
Asuka hits Cross with a dropkick from the top rope and lands on Ruby at the same time. Nikki uses a neckbreaker to get a two count. The Empress of Tomorrow hits a modified codebreaker before dropping Riot with a powerbomb. Asuka applies an ankle lock, but the hold is broken up by Cross. The champ is sent out of the ring, leaving the two rivals alone with each other. Riot fights to her feet while absorbing blows from Nikki. Ruby hits a hurricanrana from the top rope to Asuka, and then she drives Cross into the middle turnbuckle.
Asuka vs. Ruby Riot vs. Nikki Cross (NXT Women's Title) Part 1
Cross throws her jacket at Riot and knocks her out of the ring. Asuka knocks Riot off the apron with a hip attack before taking out Cross. Nikki comes back and knocks her down with a cross body. Riot gets back in the ring and squares off with the champ. They collide and neither woman goes down. Ruby knocks Asuka off the apron with an elbow, but Nikki knocks her block off before she can take to the air. They take the fight outside the ring while Ember Moon is shown watching from the crowd.
Time for the Women to Take Center Stage
Ruby Riot is out first for the Triple Threat Women's Championship match. Cross and Riot are both future stars and it wouldn't be surprising to see one of them leave with the belt tonight.
Two guys from the UK who most WWE fans had never heard of before the UK tournament just raised the bar to an almost unreachable level. Dunne and Bate are both stars in the making.
Pete Dunne vs. Tyler Bate (UK Championship) Part 4
Dunne counters the Tyler Driver 97, but the Bate counters Dunne's finisher into a DDT. The Bruiserweight rolls out of the ring to avoid being pinned. Bate hits a moonsault off the middle rope to the floor before rolling Dunne in the ring for a corkscrew 450 and another very close fall. Bate dives over the top rope, but Dunne avoids the impact. He hits his finisher in the ring and gets the win to become the new UK champion. WHAT A MATCH!
Pete Dunne vs. Tyler Bate (UK Championship) Part 3
Bate performs an incredibly quick airplane spin that gets the crowd on its feet, but he only gets a two count after dropping the challenger. Dunne hits a suplex into a powerbomb for his own near fall. The crowd is on their feet clapping for both men as they struggle to get to their feet. They start trading punches, ending with a stiff left from Bate. They go back and forth with huge counters and strikes, but neither man can keep the other down for the count.
Pete Dunne vs. Tyler Bate (UK Championship) Part 2
Dunne hits what he calls the X-plex for a two count. Bate uses an exploder suplex to give himself some time to recover. They exchange counters until Bate hits a nice suplex into a pin for a two count. These guys are pulling every trick out of their respective bags tonight. Dunne counters a standing shooting star press into a triangle submission. Bate lifts him off the mat and slams him down to break the hold in an impressive show of power.
Roderick Strong vs. Eric Young Part 3
They end up on the top turnbuckle, but Young shoves Strong off and hits a flying elbow drop for another near fall. Strong takes out Dain and Wolfe, but when he goes for his finisher, Young rakes the eyes. He recovers and meets Young on the top rope again. Roddy hits a big knee to send Young crashing down onto his cohorts. Strong rolls him back in and hits a huge backbreaker for the pin and the win. Good match to kick things off. The crowd was hot and the action was fast-paced.
Roderick Strong vs. Eric Young Part 2
Young holds up Strong from the middle rope in a submission before releasing him and hitting an elbow to the back of the head for a two count. Young controls the pace for a long time by keeping Strong grounded with submissions. Roddy hits a dropkick as Young flies off the middle rope. He starts to build some momentum with some rights to the face. Strong hits his signature backbreaker followed by a flapjack for a close two count.
Roderick Strong vs. Eric Young Part 1

Young turns the tables and gets a two count with a swinging neckbreaker. Strong unleashes a flurry of strikes. Wolfe takes a dropkick through the ropes, but he gets taken out by Dain while the ref isn't looking.
