49ers vs. Chiefs: Live Updates, Highlights and Reaction for NFL Preseason 2017
San Francisco 49ersvsKansas City Chiefs
Patrick Mahomes gave the home crowd at Arrowhead Stadium a slight taste of what he can do in and outside the pocket Friday night at Arrowhead Stadium. A penalty negated a 40-yard completion, but the rookie quarterback finished a drive with a touchdown pass. The 49ers' first-round picks Solomon Thomas (No. 3) and Reuben Foster (No. 31) played extensive snaps. At one point, Thomas re-entered the game in the fourth quarter. The 49ers have an expedited development plan for their rookie defenders in the front seven.

Patrick Mahomes Feeds the Hype
Wide receiver Tim Patrick and cornerback Will Davis drew the penalty.
C.J. Beathard Throws Second Touchdown Pass
The 49ers' third-round pick continues to take advantage of the third-stringers. He found Tyler McCloskey from two yards out for the score.
Thomas Re-Enters the Game
Thomas will log a full game in his NFL debut. He missed a portion of the offseason program due to academic obligations at Stanford, which prevented him from attending early camp practices. The No. 3 overall pick is certainly making up for lost time Friday night.
Solomon Thomas Playing Heavy Minutes
The 49ers coaching staff didn't take it lightly on their rookie first-rounders. Thomas may be feeling the aftereffects of extended play.
Mahomes Shows Flashes in Debut
Mahomes didn't have the type of highlight package comparable to fellow first-round picks Mitchell Trubisky (No. 2) and Deshaun Watson (No. 12), but he threw a touchdown pass. A holding penalty on Isaiah Battle negated the rookie quarterback's 40-yard completion to Demarcus Robinson.
C.J. Beathard 🏈 ➡ Kendrick Bourne
Beathard and Bourne hooked up for a two-point conversion after the score. The quarterback-wide receiver tandem is displaying a strong connection on the field. The undrafted rookie wideout has four catches for 88 yards.
