Edgardo Alfonzo's .324/.425/.542 and 6.4 WAR in 2000 remains one of the best seasons I've ever seen in a Mets uniform. 10th best by WAR since 1996, but so clutch and so reliable and I think his defense was underrated.

Mike Mayer

27 years ago today, Edgardo Alfonzo hit two home runs, including a 9th inning game-winning grand slam in the Mets’ win of game 1 of the NLDS vs Arizona.
