About the Role:
B/R is seeking a quality editor to review content (text, video, social) for placement in high-profile programming channels, such as the site’s home page, the B/R app and major social platforms.

Quality editors are responsible for reviewing all content bound for these channels, assuring the highest quality in regard to brand reputation, analytical arguments, factual/statistical support, copy editing, multimedia elements and formatting prior to approval.

Quality editors must also communicate efficiently and effectively across teams to field requests and fix substantive issues. Successful candidates will possess the right balance of sports expertise, prior editing experience, familiarity with established editorial standards and practices, exceptional communication skills, and dedication to the team's mission to grow and protect the site. All candidates will have to pass an editing test to be considered for an interview.

This is a full-time, long-term position requiring a flexible work schedule, including the ability and willingness to work nights and weekends.

Required skills/experience
  • Prior editing experience in sports journalism
  • Expert knowledge in all or most of the major U.S. and European sports covered by Bleacher Report
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience with all forms of digital and social media; ability to quickly fact-check content and evaluate the credibility of source material
  • Positive attitude, patient demeanor and ability to maintain composure in stressful situations

Quality editors are responsible for reviewing all content bound for these channels, assuring the highest quality in regard to writing mechanics, analytical arguments, factual/statistical support, copy editing, multimedia elements and formatting prior to approval.

Quality editors must also communicate efficiently and effectively across teams to fix substantive issues. Successful candidates will possess the right balance of sports expertise, prior editing experience, familiarity with established editorial standards and practices, exceptional communication skills, and dedication to the team's mission to grow and protect the site. Senior Content Programmer

About the Role:

A Senior Programmer is responsible for finding engaging sports content for B/R’s mobile app and website. They are in charge of planning app strategy around key tentpole events throughout the sports calendar and assist in giving feedback to junior programmers.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and send push notifications about breaking news, viral moments in sports and culture

  • Craft push notification plans around key tentpole events throughout the sports calendar

  • Collaborate with social, front page teams to ensure push notification and content packaging plans are consistent across platforms

  • Help establish B/R’s voice and tone on desktop and mobile channels

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of sports media experience preferred

  • Sports fanatic with a strong understanding of all major sports. Expertise in Fantasy Football, MLB, MMA, WWE a plus.

  • A keen awareness of Bleacher Report’s voice. When breaking news happens, be expected to know how B/R reacts on multiple platforms.

  • Tech savvy. It’s important that the candidate is well versed in the world of Internet sports. Monitoring Twitter, major sports sites, and other social aggregation tools are examples of activities an ideal candidate would perform on a daily basis.

  • Deep understanding of current and emerging social trends.

  • Possess strong writing and communication skills.  Editing skills/experience is a plus; formal editing background is not required but a keen eye for punctuation and grammar is crucial.

  • Candidate must be based in, or willing to relocate to San Francisco

Social Moments Senior Manager

About the role:
This Social Moments Senior Manager (Tactical) will lead a team of producers, designers & content creators. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Social Media, this managerial position will coordinate innovative social media executions that leverage all of B/R's content producing arms while also breaking new ground & delivering new experiences. This person should be a visual first content consumer & should constantly be thinking creatively about how we tell stories that make sense for a phone-first generation.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage production & publishing of social content across various teams in Bleacher Report. Projects are generally complex in responsibility and/or manages multiple projects simultaneously in conjunction with other departments.
  • Oversee production processes such as: assignment docs, managing resources, budgets & assignments, communicating with production & outside BR departments, advanced planning & billing. Establishes new processes, procedures & methods that improve production outcomes.
  • Provide creative guidance to producers, designers, & freelance creators to ensure they are meeting production deadlines & deliverables.
About you:
  • 3-5 years experience managing social media accounts at a digital publisher
  • Proven experience managing medium (7 FTE) to large (15 FTE) sized teams
  • Strong track record of creating viral content across Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat
  • Demonstrable social networking experience & social analytics tools knowledge
  • Knowledge of online marketing & good understanding of major marketing channels

Sr. Social Producer (Predictive)

About the role:

The Senior Social Producer for the Social Moments Predictive team will be responsible for leading the day-to-day coverage of all of the  team’s predictive content executions

Responsibilities:

  • Developing creative and original content executions tied to sports and pop culture narratives
  • Working 1-2 months in advance to prepare highly visible social executions
  • Collaborate with designers to create graphics and advanced video executions
  • Provide creative direction to guide content though the back end of production

Requirements:

  • Must have previous editorial and social media experience in sports news
  • Must have experience managing large sports brand social media accounts
  • 3+ years experience in journalism/sports
  • Must have extensive knowledge of internet sports culture
  • Experience in leading small teams is preferred
  • Experience executing creative multimedia projects with a team
  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays
