The Internship 

Only active students (undergraduate or graduate programs) or recent graduates (within 6 months of applying) will be considered for the internship. 

The paid internship will be entirely remote in light of COVID-19 and with your health and safety in mind. There will be extensive programming accommodated for a virtual environment, so you can make the most of your time at Bleacher Report and learn the ins-and-outs of our exciting industry alongside your fellow interns. 

Our 10-week summer internship program will kick off June 7th and commence on or before August 13th.

The Team

We need an intern on our Original Social team to help support outreach to social influencers, surfacing/identifying betting related content & talent and opportunities on various social platforms, and the potential to appear in videos based on expertise and training.

This person would be instrumental in the growth of original social content for B/R Betting as we strive to drive differentiation in the space, develop new social franchises/talent and revenue opportunities. 

The position would have the value of learning about progressive and differentiated content experiences on newly emerging social platforms and gain valuable communication/research and ideation skills.

The Daily

  • Research projects on various social platforms to surface social influencers in the betting category, unique templates or ideas to emulate or partners to work with

  • Develop databases to support future outreach

  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to ideate around potential opportunities

  • Conduct outreach and communication with potential collaborators

  • Support production behind or in front of the camera

  • Conduct post-mortems and evaluate published content or pilots/experiments

The Essentials

  • The candidate must be 21 years old to be legally compliant with all aspects associated with betting. Recent college grads are welcome in addition to grad/masters students or college students of age.

  • Must have a passion for the betting category and understand the culture that accompanies it

  • A strong knowledge and/or background in multiple social platforms (IG, Twitter, TikTok, Snapchat and YouTube) with a preference for someone who has participated in original content creation on social platforms (either as front-facing talent or in production).

  • Strong ideation skills are a must. We're looking for creative forces.

  • Must have strong research and production skills in creating and/or being featured in content.

  • Comfort level on camera is preferred but not required.

HoH Social Programmer (Temporary)

House of Highlights is seeking a social programmer who will work to create engaging visual formats, stories and story-telling vehicles made for social. The programmer will help with curating content from multiple sources to post on our social accounts, specifically Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Snap. The programmer will be responsible for surfacing, curating, editing, packaging, and distributing various types of social content, including captions.

The programmer will be focused on curating NBA content and highlights, as well as other viral content + UGC that crosses over youth culture passion points. The programmer will be required to cover live NBA games and events throughout the season and will be asked to assist senior level programmers in creating programming plans and executing on sold campaigns. An ideal candidate would be described as someone that is a fast learner, hustles like crazy, has ideas and isn’t afraid to share them.

Major duties and responsibilities

  • Discover and curate social content that aligns with the House of Highlight brand pillars and engages with the Gen Z audience

  • Cover full slates of NBA game schedule, covering multiple games at once to find standout content

  • Work closely with other programmers to check copy and properly distribute content

  • Collaborate with other programming groups to align on voice and ensure differentiation

  • Review performance of distribution plans and provide meaningful feedback.

Requirements

  • A strong understanding of House of Highlights’ voice and brand 

  • Experience working with social media platforms, specifically Instagram and TikTok

  • Real passion for basketball culture and familiarity with “NBA Twitter” 

  • Experience with social content discovery, particularly NBA-focused

Quality Editor (Temporary)

The Job

B/R is seeking a temporary quality editor to review content (text, video, social) for placement in high-profile programming channels, such as the site’s home page, the B/R app and major social platforms, to assist with coverage during a busy five-month period.

The Daily

Quality editors are responsible for reviewing all content bound for these channels, assuring the highest quality in regard to writing mechanics, analytical arguments, factual/statistical support, copy editing, multimedia elements and formatting.

Quality editors must also communicate efficiently and effectively across teams to fix substantive issues. Successful candidates will possess the right balance of sports expertise, prior editing experience, familiarity with established editorial standards and practices, exceptional communication skills, and dedication to the team's mission to grow and protect the brand. All candidates will have to pass an editing test to be considered for an interview.

This is a temporary position requiring full-time hours and a flexible work schedule, including the ability to work nights and weekends. A successful candidate would be expected to work from home.

The Essentials

  • Prior editing experience in sports journalism
  • Expert knowledge in all or most of the major U.S. and European sports covered by Bleacher Report
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Experience with all forms of digital and social media; ability to quickly fact-check content and evaluate the credibility of source material
  • Positive attitude, patient demeanor and ability to maintain composure in stressful situations
  • Ability to multi-task without sacrificing attention to detail
  • Proficiency with the following (or similar) resources: Gmail, Slack, Google Hangout, Google Docs/Forms
  • Degree in journalism, English, communication studies or related field
  • Prior writing experience in sports journalism is a plus
  • Direct prior experience or familiarity with Bleacher Report content, writers and programming channels (B/R app, social media pages, site homepage, newsletters, etc.) is a plus

The Daily

  • Assist in content discovery for our social channels across a variety of platforms.

  • Maintain social channels like YouTube to insure content is properly tagged. 

  • Help with market research. 

  • Help plan for big events that the social org is collectively content planning around.

The Essentials

  • Well-versed in social media, including, but not limited to, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Facebook

  • An avid sports fan with a wide array of knowledge across different sports

  • An ideal candidate is someone who is passionate, detail-oriented, punctual and has a desire to learn
