Associate Editor

About the Role:

This is a full-time position. We are looking for an enthusiastic College Sports expert who is eager to plan and oversee text coverage of college football and basketball, as well as other sports, including, but not limited to, the NFL and MLB.  

The Associate Editor will work with Bleacher Report's full Editorial team, as well as its Programming, Analytics and Quality Control departments, to plan, assign, track and distribute content. 

The Associate Editor will assign topics to writers, develop story ideas and review published content. This is not a writing position.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Tracking College Football and College Basketball news.
  • Tracking news across a mix of sports and leagues, depending on the season, as part of a core team of editors.
  • Developing feature and news-based story ideas for a wide variety of text content.
  • Communicating with writers, other editors and programmers to maximize the quality and reach of text content.
  • Identifying prospective writers and developing current writers.
  • Working nights and weekends as called for by games, events and news in college football and other sports.
  • Planning and executing text coverage strategy around major events like March Madness and College Football playoff and bowl games.


About You:

  • 3+ years experience creating or organizing sports text content.
  • Deep familiarity with the sports media landscape across all platforms, with a keen eye for what attracts loyal, engaged users.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and at ease with the Google digital suite.
  • 3+ years experience working regularly with digital publishing systems.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • 3+ years experience with digital-media production or distribution.

Associate Producer - Game of Zones (Temporary)

We are looking for an experienced, NYC-based Associate Producer to join the team behind the Emmy nominated comedy web series Game of Zones

The Associate Producer is responsible for supporting producers from pre-production through post and generally supporting the Senior Producer. The AP will also coordinate across departments to ensure deliverables and materials are being managed properly.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Compiling NBA research 
  • Organizing and tracking projects in pre and post production 
  • Taking detailed notes in writers rooms and production meetings
  • Maintaining department wide documents
  • Scheduling department and cross-department meetings
  • Supporting Producers through all aspects of production
  • Obtaining episode sign off from legal and quality control teams 
  • Track and manage deliverables
  • Liaise between departments to manage video assets


About You:

  • Minimum 2 years experience working in a professional production environment
  • Ability to communicate ideas effectively and efficiently
  • Organized, detail oriented, and self motivated
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Knowledge of digital post-production process using Adobe and Apple software

Associate Producer - The Champions (Temporary)

Responsibilities:

Bleacher Report is seeking a programmer who will work to curate content from multiple sources and make editorial judgements on the Front Page and Bleacher Report App. The Programmer will primarily be responsible for packaging and distributing B/R's content across several platforms.

The Programmer will be required to cover live events across all sports and will be asked to assist senior level programmers in creating event distribution plans. An ideal candidate would be described as someone that executes direction well and is diligent with their time management. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment is a must. Innovation is a plus when it comes to copy, voice and content packaging. 

  • Package all Bleacher Report content and partnership content across our Front Page, App and CNN platforms
  • Work closely with other programmers to brainstorm packaging and properly distribute B/R content
  • Collaborate with other programming and editorial groups to align B/R’s voice across all platforms
  • Review performance of distribution plans and provide meaningful feedback on quality and quantity of performance.

Requirements:

  • A strong understanding of B/R’s voice and brand

Senior Content Programmer

About the Role:

A Senior Programmer is responsible for finding engaging sports content for B/R’s mobile app and website. They are in charge of planning app strategy around key tentpole events throughout the sports calendar and assist in giving feedback to junior programmers.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and send push notifications about breaking news, viral moments in sports and culture

  • Craft push notification plans around key tentpole events throughout the sports calendar

  • Collaborate with social, front page teams to ensure push notification and content packaging plans are consistent across platforms

  • Help establish B/R’s voice and tone on desktop and mobile channels

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of sports media experience preferred

  • Sports fanatic with a strong understanding of all major sports. Expertise in Fantasy Football, MLB, MMA, WWE a plus.

  • A keen awareness of Bleacher Report’s voice. When breaking news happens, be expected to know how B/R reacts on multiple platforms.

  • Tech savvy. It’s important that the candidate is well versed in the world of Internet sports. Monitoring Twitter, major sports sites, and other social aggregation tools are examples of activities an ideal candidate would perform on a daily basis.

  • Deep understanding of current and emerging social trends.

  • Possess strong writing and communication skills.  Editing skills/experience is a plus; formal editing background is not required but a keen eye for punctuation and grammar is crucial.

  • Candidate must be based in, or willing to relocate to San Francisco

Sr. Social Producer (Predictive)

About the role:

The Senior Social Producer for the Social Moments Predictive team will be responsible for leading the day-to-day coverage of all of the  team’s predictive content executions

Responsibilities:

  • Developing creative and original content executions tied to sports and pop culture narratives
  • Working 1-2 months in advance to prepare highly visible social executions
  • Collaborate with designers to create graphics and advanced video executions
  • Provide creative direction to guide content though the back end of production

Requirements:

  • Must have previous editorial and social media experience in sports news
  • Must have experience managing large sports brand social media accounts
  • 3+ years experience in journalism/sports
  • Must have extensive knowledge of internet sports culture
  • Experience in leading small teams is preferred
  • Experience executing creative multimedia projects with a team
  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays
