2012 NFL Draft Order: Redskins and Dolphins Race for QB Hinges on Week 17
Andrew Luck is going to be the No. 1 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.
Whether it be the Indianapolis Colts or another team that trades up, he is going to go No. 1.
If one of those two teams isn't the Washington Redskins or the Miami Dolphins, two organizations in desperate need of a franchise quarterback, the race for the No. 2 quarterback will be on.
According to ESPN Blogger Mike Sando, the Redskins and Dolphins currently sit at Nos. 7 and 8, respectively.
Both teams are currently 5-10 on the year, but it is the Redskins who are the worse team based on strength of schedule. Because they had a weaker schedule and have the same record, they pick before the Dolphins if things hold.
Washington travels to Philadelphia to take on the streaking Eagles. The Dolphins, meanwhile, host the division rival New York Jets.
Both teams can win, but both teams are currently the underdogs on the line.
Should they both, lose it is the Redskins who hold the advantage over the Dolphins for a shot at the No. 2 quarterback.
St. Louis, Minnesota, Cleveland, Jacksonville and Tampa Bay sit between Indianapolis and Washington.
Of those five teams only two would even consider a quarterback (Browns and Jags), but they both have bigger holes that need to be addressed as well.
They could both make a move up the board, or they could both sit tight.
If the latter is the case, the Redskins currently hold the inside track to Robert Griffin III of Baylor or whichever quarterback they deem to be No. 2 on the board.
