NFL Playoff Predictions: 3 Receivers Sure to Terrorize Secondaries

Chris TrapassoDec 26, 2011

Running the football and defense initially come to mind when one thinks of the NFL postseason.

Might not be the case this winter.

With the multitude of tremendous quarterbacks playing this January, we're bound to see some offensive fireworks with the following guys as the main beneficiaries.

These three wide receivers are going to erupt in the postseason.

Jordy Nelson

1 of 3

Greg Jennings is still the most talented, most dynamic wideout on the Green Bay Packers.

Right?

What about Jordy Nelson?

He has over 1,000 receiving yards on the season and his 12 receiving touchdowns trail only Rob Gronkowski and Calvin Johnson for the most in the NFL.

Jennings should return by the postseason, but Nelson has emerged as a go-to target that can both stretch the field down the sidelines and use his size in the red zone.

Expect a few monster games from No. 87 in January.

Calvin Johnson

2 of 3

Quite the obvious selection.

Tell me which NFC secondary is stopping Calvin Johnson this postseason?

He has 13 grabs for 316 yards with three touchdowns over the last two weeks and often he makes catches when he's not open.

The entire Lions' offense is catching fire at the perfect time and if they have to get into a few shootouts, which is certainly possible, Megatron will have a huge postseason.

Antonio Brown

3 of 3

Mike Wallace is still the receiver that defensive coordinators focus their game plan around when playing the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Because of that, slot guy Antonio Brown has emerged as another legitimate, big play threat for the guys from the Steel City.

With most team's best cornerback shadowing Wallace, Brown will be utilized on shallow drag routes that allow him to use his fantastic yards-after-the-catch ability and occasionally work down the middle of the field when Pittsburgh wants to take a shot deep.

His track star speed will lead to a gigantic statistical postseason for the second-year receiver.
