Pac-10 Only Conference to Go Undefeated in Bowl Games
Throughout the season, there have been many college football fans who have talked about how it was a down year for the Pac-10. That none of the teams were that good and that it was a disappointing year.
Sure, it could be considered that to the Big 12 supporters and the SEC.
Yet, the Pac-10 will be the only conference that will be able to say that every school that got to a bowl game. There were five teams that made it: Arizona, California, Oregon, Oregon State, and USC.
Arizona beat the No. 17-ranked BYU Cougars 31-21.
California and Miami were both unranked and played in the Emerald Bowl, where California won 24-17.
Oregon, ranked No. 15, played 13th-ranked Oklahoma State in a high-scoring game that went to the the Ducks 42-31.
Oregon State, ranked No. 24, took down the No. 18 team, Pittsburgh, by a score of 3-0.
Lastly, USC a team ranked No. 5, took out the No. 8 team, Penn State, rather easily in a 38-24 victory.
Pac-10 teams played teams from the Big East, Mountain West, Big 12, Big 10, and the ACC conference. With those wins, the Pac-10 will be the only major conference to say that each team that got to the bowl game won.
The SEC can't say that, because South Carolina lost to Iowa. The Big 12 can't say it, because Oklahoma State lost to Oregon. A Big East team lost to Oregon State; an ACC team lost to California; and a Big 10 school lost to USC.
So, yeah this may have been a down year in terms for the Pac-10 record-wise and in the standings, but the only thing that truly matters is how the Pac-10 finished.
I believe they did all right. Being the only conference that will have a winning percentage of 100 percent is pretty good.
