The Biggest Winner of All Star Weekend: The Atlanta Hawks

Daniel "Boobie" Gibson went insane during the Rookie-Sophomore Challenge. 

Deron Williams edges out Chris Paul in the Skills Challenge. 

Jason Kapono tied the single-round  scoring record to repeat as the three point champion. 

Dwight "Superman" Howard brought the Dunk Contest back with the help of Gerald Green and an awfully famous cupcake.

But the real winner at All-Star weekend was Joe Johnson.  

Though he only scored three points in the All-Star game, he'll be going home to a playoff contender when he returns to the Atlanta Hawks.

The Hawks acquired Mike Bibby from the Sacramento Kings this weekend in exchange for Shelden Williams, Lorenzen Wright, Tyronn Lue and Anthony Johnson and a second-round pick.

Atlanta had one glaring weakness and they addressed it.  Take note, Cleveland.

In true Eastern Conference fashion, Atlanta, despite its 21-28 record, is in ninth place in the standings, and could easily make a push passed the Philadelphia 76ers for the eighth seed at the very least.  

Mike Bibby and Joe Johnson could prove to be on the league's strongest back court duo if they gel quickly.  On paper, it would be difficult to find a better pair.  Add that to one of the most athletic and young front courts, and forget a playoff push—th

e Hawks could be perennial playoff team. 

Bibby has been injured for the better part of the year, however, only playing in 15 games, starting in 12 and he is averaging 13.5 points per game, his lowest scoring output since his rookie season. 

For the Hawks to make that push in the J.V. League that is the East, Bibby will have to return to form and become the playmaker he was in his best years as a King.

With the trade, the Hawks now lack muscle on the bench at the forward and center positions.  If the roster remains unchanged that could prove to be an Achilles heel for Atlanta, being that their starters are very young and a lot will be asked of them.

Mike Bibby, Joe Johnson, Marvin Williams, Josh Smith and Al Horford give the Hawks an explosive starting five that will take the bottom half of the Eastern Conference playoff picture by storm.
