Fantasy Hoops Waiver Wire Bin: Volume Eight
Guards
Michael Finley, San Antonio
Every year there seems to be a stretch where Finley becomes fantasy-relevant again. Finley is currently in one of those stretches.
In his last four games he averaged 13.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.5 blocks, and 2.3 three-pointers. He shot 55.3 percent from the floor, 64.3 percent from three, and 80 percent from the line while committing just one turnover.
He’s owned in just 16 percent of Yahoo and 5.6 percent of ESPN leagues and his Sporting News salary cap number is $0.95M. He qualifies at both SG and SF.
Marco Belinelli, Golden State
Marco has stepped up his game averaging 15.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 0.8 steals, and 2.4 three-pointers in his last five games. He shot 39.1 percent from the floor, 40 percent from three, and didn’t miss a free throw.
Besides his poor field-goal percentage, he hurts you with 2.4 turnovers per game, but if you’re looking for points, threes, and assists, he’s not a bad play. He’s owned in 28 percent of Yahoo and 8.1 percent of ESPN leagues, and has a SN salary cap number of $0.86M. He qualifies at PG and SG.
Forwards
Andray Blatche
I’ve profiled him before, but he’s still owned in just 29 percent of Yahoo and 7.7 percent of ESPN leagues. In his last four games he’s averaged 14.5 points, 8.3 assists, 3.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.8 blocks.
He shot 52.1 percent from the field and a perfect nine of nine from the line. He turned it over just 0.8 times per game. His SN salary cap number is $1.65M. He qualifies at PF and C.
Rasaul Butler, New Orleans
Butler qualifies at both SG and SF. He’s owned in just five percent of Yahoo and 0.6 percent of ESPN leagues. His salary cap number is $0.50M.
So why should you be interested in him? In his last five games he’s averaged 13.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 1.2 steals, 0.6 blocks, and 2.4 three-pointers. He shot 50.9 percent from the floor and 46.2 percent from downtown. He turned it over just 0.4 times per night.
Center
Marc Gasol
He’s fairly heavily owned (58 percent in Yahoo and 78.4 percent of ESPN leagues), but in case he’s available, you should consider picking him up.
In his last four games he averaged 14.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.8 steals, and 2.0 blocks. He shot 53.2 percent from the floor and 53.8 percent from the line.
With Darko Milicic sidelined for a month or more, he should continue this kind of production. His SN salary cap number is $3.38M.
