Dear Mr. Favre...

Moe NagleDec 31, 2008

Now that Christmas is over and we are about to enter a new year, it is time for a resolution. The resolution is get real! Either you realize you are 39 and feel 50 or you are 39 and feel 29. Take a little time, think it over, but make a decision, stick to it. Last I checked, the hokey-pokey is reserved for kindergarten.

Jet fans are not as forgiving as the cheeseheads, and most New Yorkers want nothing to do with you after that Ryan Leaf-esque performance of nine interceptions in your last five games. Mangini is gone, turn the page and be Brett Favre

Not every quarterback has the option of leaving the game on a high note, you do. Come back for another year and show Jet fans, the NFL, and the Green Bay Packers you've still got ammo in that cannon.

The talent on this team is comparable to any team you have ever played on, just get them the ball. How bad is it to end your consecutive games started streak and teach so you don't leave this franchise the same way you left Green Bay.

If you decide to retire, do it. New Yorkers will not handle a hostage situation well; don't be surprised to see pitchforks and torches, then again, it may be a plane ticket.

Pennington (a.k.a. the savior of Miami) was thrown into the trash heap for you, which definitely made you look like the trash. You did look better than Aaron Rodgers, which in the realm of ego is a silver lining.

If this is Brett Favre, get out while you can, put on those Wrangler Jeans, sit in your house admiring the three MVP trophies of yesteryear, and wait for the call from the Hall of Fame.

The game may still be fun for you, I don't know. You've shed more tears than the girl without a prom date. Don't get me wrong, grown men also cry, but is that passion or saying good-bye to the cameras.

Before you open your mouth in an emotional display of man tears, have your answer. Football fans will respect your decision if you stick to it, no need to be a baby waiting for mommy to burp you.

If you choose to stay...Be HUMBLE. Respect the game, play the game, and remember it is a game. Somewhere in between the sobbing, trades, and bickering, the idea of "it's only a game" was lost.

It does not make the hits hurt any less, or the interceptions less costly but allows you to pick yourself up and shake it off. You're a gun-slinger, be ready for the OK Corral.
