Take On The Leader With Joe Burgett
Now don't worry, many know this article. And they do know what has happened in it before. But this time I feel instead of causing controversy I should draw something to your attention.
I want to help you young guys out. See I have been around for about four months now. I had run-ins with bashers, senior writers, and stalkers (seriously). But many believe I am not worthy of being atop the rankings in the B/R wrestling community.
I even had someone take my profile pic and pose as me on B/R. They even changed their name to Joe Shmoe or something.
Although I am not by any means the best writer on B/R, I can hold my own with the rest. Guys like Lewis, Chris, TJ and others have come out and said some, let's say, "negative" things about me.
I attained the top ranking my first month on B/R and yes, I am not going to lie, I loved it. Because it meant that I, Joe Burgett, was as good or better than others on B/R. I wanted to get my name out there. I wanted to be a factor. I wanted to be known.
And, oh, I wrote, and wrote, and wrote. Making sure I appeared to be the best writer or "in the know" as people like to say. And I loved being the guy that people looked at. But I was knocked down a few notches when an article was written about me.
The article was from another B/R writer who had been on for a longer time than me. He said I was cocky and arrogant and had no idea what it took to be a writer, much less a great one.
He mentioned it was ok to be controversial, that is what gets fans and reads and even more comments. But to go around saying you were the best was wrong. You need to show your the best, not say it.
You cannot come out and say, "Joe Burgett, No.1 writer," all the time. It gets annoying and people hate it. He went on to tell me on my profile he respected me for what I do, just that I should be more humble.
So about three months ago I started to be. And more recently within the last month or so, I have found writers, not just any writers, but wrestling writers. I told them I would help then anytime they needed it, just let me know.
I did tell them things like "I got to No. 1 in the ranking because I knew how to get reads and comments, which moves you up. I can help you do that"
Many saw this part "Joe Burgett No. 1 writer" and they felt as if I was throwing it in their face. And some took it the way I wanted them to take it—as a helping thing. I've said this a good bit, I want the wrestling section to be the best.
So those guys I have helped have get their name out have been doing well on B/R. I also have written comments on their articles too on where they could do better. NEVER, and I mean NEVER, have I mentioned anyone having bad grammar.
Why would I do that? I have problem with it myself. When I got on here peope judged me on my grammar and still do. They didn't look at the article they looked at the grammar or where I made mistakes.
I hated that, so I never did it to anyone because I felt it was wrong. TJ said I did and that is a lie. Now, he is sort of a hot head, a guy who I know wants to do well, but feels he should be up with guys like myself, Ross, Daris, Shane, and Ron.
And they wrote four or five articles. Anyone up there has written 40 or more articles. I myself have written over 300. Take my advice and stop complaining that you're not up there and work to achieve the top spot.
Ron Johnson held it before I got here. I said, hey, I want to be up there and wrote to get up there. Also, who cares if your welcomed your first day? I did welcome you, TJ. And yet, you took my word out of context to make it seem as if you were the victim of an assault.
Oh, and by the way, TJ, you told the wrestling section to hang their heads in shame, yet you only mentioned me in the article.
Chris, you write well, but I simply asked something of you I was asked by many others: Write SPOILER if it indeed is a spoiler.
I only wrote one spoiler article myself with all the spoilers for a SmackDown show.
Never again did I write one, TJ. See you all have the tools to be better writers on here.
Yet, you can come out and discuss why you aren't getting credit like myself or the top writers are. Why? Do yourself a favor guys, write a respectable piece and give me the link.
If you think your better than the top guys you can prove it, you know. That is what I had to do. I have had three articles now written about how much people hate me. Do you think I care?
No, because in the end people still read my stuff, news or not. And they still don't read the articles you want them to. You wonder why you don't have success?
I'll tell you why. If you write an article no one cares about then it will not get read, news or not. If it is a popular person, group, or team then you get more reads. There is a tip on how you can get at the level of others.
Guy like Ross, Shane, Ron, and Daris got up there with popular articles about different things people were interested in and gave valid points. You do that then and only then will you be great.
I'm Just Saying, new writers take notice. You want to be up with the big boys, take a lesson from them. Especially ones who were just like you.
