Thon Maker Video: Watch Highlights of 7' 8th Grade Basketball Star
Move over LeBron James there is a new "chosen one" in town, and his name is Thon Maker.
Move over Dwight Howard, there is a new big-man in town, and his name is Thon Maker.
Move over Kobe Bryant, there is a new superstar in town, and his name is Thon Maker.
I think you get the point. Maker is an absolute beast, and I have no doubt in my mind that he's going to be the next big name on the NBA radars.
There's a catch though...
He's in eighth grade.
I'm not sure what you were doing in eighth grade, but speaking for myself I certainly wasn't dominating a basketball court.
Sure, I had a mean post-up game and could hit a sky-hook from time to time on the hoop in my room, but to be frank I was more worried about playing video games and trying to get rid of my acne than anything else.
Oh, and I was about 5' tall, which is a far cry from the 7' prodigy Maker.
It's rather apparent that this kid is going to be good. Just watch this highlight tape, and if you know anything about basketball you will have no trouble seeing the raw skills.
He's not just a big-man for the sake of being big. He's got a good shooting touch, can dribble like a guard, and seems to be very comfortable taking the ball to the rim.
Those are all things that NBA post players are still trying to develop, and Maker has them in eighth grade.
Consider the fact that he's probably still going to grow, and he's definitely going to bulk up, and we could be looking at the next great basketball player of our time.
I know that's a premature statement, but just look at the kid play.
Keep your eye on Maker, he looks like he's going to be a star.
