Jimmy Clausen and Golden Tate Will Make Notre Dame Golden in 2009

Lace BanachekDec 30, 2008

Notre Dame is jammed with young talent, and pound for pound ND is heads above any BCS team (or non) that went 7-6 in 2008.

The Irish left a permanent stain on Hawaii, as the Fighting Irish demolished the Warriors in the Hawaii Bowl.

Jimmy Clausen showed any who were watching or may have doubted just what the Irish are capable of doing on a regular basis.

With Golden Tate and Michael Floyd at the wideouts, one needs to be concerned.

First of all, ND has the steady consistency of Golden Tate, who hauled in nearly 1,000 yards in the regular season, standing in line with Michael Floyd, who averages 15 yards per reception.

That would cause anyone in their right mind who is facing them to be well prepared.

Then there is Armando Allen, a freshman running back that is explosive, to say the least, combining for nearly 900 yards running and receiving.

The only question on this young ND team is the defense. But Charlie Weis, ND head coach, appears to have them on the right track with a year of seasoning.

Weiss has to be plumb ecstatic, for there is nothing like having a rebuilding season and still make it to a Bowl game.

Just ask Coach Chris Peterson of Boise State.

Coach Pete was supposed to be in his rebuilding stage at BSU and surprised the WAC coaches by winning the conference outright and going 12-0 on the season.

The young Boise State lefty, Kellen Moore, is a lethal quarterback and can never be counted out.

However, BSU was not as opportune (or maybe prepared) as Notre Dame was for their Bowl, falling to Texas Christian by one point in San Diego's Poinsettia Bowl.

Yet, good teams learn from their mistakes and great teams don’t repeat them. Don’t look for either of these two teams to lose much (if at all) the next couple of years.

Like ND, Boise State has a nucleus of sophomore and freshman standouts. Could these two teams be building on a collision course to the national championship game in 2011?

Indeed these two teams need to meet up in 2010 to see who is the best to move onward.

Boise State would love to travel to Notre Dame in 2010 or have the fighting Irish battling for gold on their blue turf, which would be the sellout of the year.
