Why the Steelers Will Win the Super Bowl

I know what your thinking. Why would someone pick the Steelers to win the SuperBowl now? Now that their starting quarterback has suffered a concussion, a week after they lost to conference-leading Tennesee Titans.

Well let me tell you something. This has been one of the greatest regular seasons in Steelers history. Even though they have had many great seasons, this was really something special. If anyone glanced at the schedule at the beginning of the season they would have bet, like myself, that a 10-6 mark would have been a success by anyone's standards.

The league handed the Steelers the toughest slate of games, by far, in the NFL. If you go down the list you will see the teams they had to contend with are the best the league has to offer.

First you can start with their AFC opponents. The Patriots, Colts, Chargers, Titans and the Ravens twice. Then look at their NFC opponents. The Cowboys, Eagles, Redskins and the Superbowl Champion New York Giants and it becomes clear that finishing the season with a 12-4 mark is truly exceptional.

But now entering the playoffs the Steelers have a new set of challenges starting with the health of Big Ben Rothlisberger. Early reports suggest the concussion sustained was not as serious as first thought. Let's face it, without Big Ben behind center it would be pretty tough for them to go all the way like it would for any team losing their star quarterback.

The good news is that they have a bye this week and there is no way you're gonna keep a warrior like him out of a huge game like the one coming up. The Steelers defense has been just dominant this season more than usual and the tough schedule they endured could turn out to be a blessing. If there is one thing the Steelers are it is ''Battle Tested."

Most of the games this year were all out wars and the fact they won most of them gives them an edge over the other playoff teams whose schedules were weaker. I believe the AFC is a tougher conference and the winner will take the Super Bowl. Look for a rematch of the Steelers—Titans game for the Conference Championship with the Men in Black avenging their earlier defeat. Now all you have to do is find your local bookie. Naw, just jokin.................
